Currently 8 weeks in. Love it. The mornings are difficult but teaching class at night is a dream. I had my first real 1 on 1 session with the head instructor today, who happens to be a 6x World Kickboxing Champion. Fast is an understatement. I thought I was fast. Maybe I am... but I know I could barely see his hands move. His feet blur too, but he is nursing a knee injury socan't wait to see him truly in action. An ultra-competitive guy, he showed me clearly how far from the skill ceiling I am this morning... All in all a real good learning experience for me.
Starting Monday, 3/10/14: we have an open mat session that I got started in the school, a legitimate "Gracie garage session." This will be Monday through Thursday 8:15pm - 9:15pm. I am the "garage leader" so if you are near Marietta, GA and have any interest in coming down to train contact me via PM and I will get you the pertinent info. Note that you have to be 18+ or 13+ and have a parent there to sign the waiver. Note: I am working on my instructor certification through Gracie Academy so hopefully in ~12 months I will be a certified and affiliated Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor.
The Gracie Garage open mat sessions are F R E E.
