So I was gonna write the second blog about the best/worst units for Protoss but I just can't write a good one out (no, not because I couldn't find any good units for protoss, in case you were wondering) Oh well, I will probably try again when protoss gets less hate.
also slightly unrelated, some of you may know that I am looking for jobs. You can skip it if you aren't interested in reading it but I thought this will show you how terrifying some jobs are: + Show Spoiler +
A few days ago, I finished an interview with 4 department heads of a major bank.
The job is: Corporate Action Securities Operator.
I don't know much but I have done my research to get a basic knowledge on what kinda role it is (the job is offered by an agent and not available elsewhere)
What was I expecting: Low paid Lots of Overtime Medium Stress
well, guess I had too low of an expectation, it goes beyond that. the wage is honestly not bad, but you can make more working as some store assistant in a retail store. The fact that it provides OT bonus which is already pretty good and it covers some travel expense if you finish work too late. But here's where everything goes wrong. 15 hours work sometimes, 12 hours minimal 5 days a week. From 9 to 11 sometimes (even longer in some division)
High pressure work load starts right from the beginning of the day. An average admin clerk for example, might deal with ~5 cases, this job will have around ~40. In fact, you are expected to have so much work that you won't have time for dinner until the work is finished.
Will I take it? I am still considering, the long work hours is insane but it will look amazing on my CV.
Oh well, I still haven't got the offer so I have time to consider.
Bioshock: Infinite Yup, I know I am so late to the party. In fact, I started playing the day it got released and just couldn't bring myself to finish the game. It wasn't because I didn't want to leave the world/finish the story, it was just because I got incredibly disappointed over and over again.
The world is beautiful, there are so much details everywhere. But the combat is a huge dump down from what we first saw from E3. All the abilities are essentially the same, one for direct cast and another for trap. The sky rail system was interesting at first, but with the invulnerability upgrade, it makes the combat a bit silly.
The relationship between Elizabeth and Songbird was particularly disappointing, they didn't really show a lot of the bonding between the two, compared to Big Daddy and Little Sister.
I also didn't like how Elizabeth is invisible to enemies and interrupting her emotional speech with the annoying "ammo" support.
The story also got dragged in the middle and the ending shock factor came way too unexpected.
Still, it's a great game, the world is hauntingly beautiful but comparing to the previous two, I really can't bring myself to give it a score higher than 7.
7.0 /10
The Walking Dead Now this game is amazing. I have always been a fan of these interactive story focused games and this game imo is the best of the genre.
At the beginning I had to force myself a little to sit down and play since I didn't like the graphic style, a cartoon based graphic with zombies?? But what the game reminded me is that Walking Dead is not really about the walkers (zombies), it's about surviving and what humans are without a safe society.
I don't want to spoil anything but if you haven't tried it yet, GO PLAY IT.
Some people didn't like that your choices don't always change the outcome, but I would argue that this is just like how our lives are, we make choices everyday for everything but our choices aren't going to shape the world, our choices changes our experience towards the events.
9.5 /10
(0.5 off is because the story is still not done)
Final Fantasy X HD remaster This game defined my childhood, back when it was released on PS2, I watched my friend played it from start till end. Together we typed in around 30 cheat codes which took around a whole afternoon to do and because we only had 3 days of holiday, we had to use those cheats which kinda ruined the fun quite a bit.
I missed the first day it went on sale and when the second shipment arrived, the price of the box set (which also contains FFX-2) sky rocketed, almost doubling the price of the PS3 version. But to hell with all the waiting, I got it anyway.
The graphics have improved quite a lot. In case, you aren't familiar with how final fantasy series do their graphics, in many areas they would run a 3D rendered models with a background drawn to look 3D. I think the HD remaster actually redrawn some of the background and kudos to SE for that.
The character models are upgraded pretty significantly, I don't really feel the game is outdated at all. I am once again reminded how great Square is at doing cutscenes and CGI movies, at some part of the game they would do a seamless switch between CGI movie and in game cutscenes
The battle system is a turn based game but I really liked how FFX uses camera angles to emphasis an attack's strength and therefore the battle feels very engaging.
You can definitly feel that this is a triple A title with the amount of content in it, the CGI movies, the amazing voice acting, the cutscenes, the music, the battle system and all the ultimate weapons etc. It's amazing to have this master piece available to a portable version to pick up and play. Don't miss it if you got a PS3 or Vita.
Some performance issue where it lags a little in some areas. But the game loads a lot quicker than the PS2 version as well.
also I wish they would readjust some part of the game, such as the dodging lightning mini game which is required to do if you want to obtain a ultimate weapon for one character. And it is more frustrating than difficult. (you will have to sit down for hours to pass it)
Infinite was a great game, but I have to agree that it stagnates a bit in the middle. I also thought that the jump in story (oh, let's just go open up another rift and completely abandon the storyline for the first 1/3 of the game) was kind of abrupt. The only thing about it that really pissed me off was the combat; they literally have done nothing to improve the combat from Bioshock-> Bioshock 2->Infinite. The upgrades were boring and one dimensional as well, but at least Burial At Sea seems to be shaping up to be pretty good. The first episode isn't exactly worth $15 by itself due to length, though. Still pretty good and not an awful investment, but I'd recommend picking up the season pass. Even though it's $20 and the first DLC is shitty, it's better than paying $30 for the Burial At Sea episode 1+2.
TWD was really, really good. I'm slightly disappointed with Season 2, but the next part should be much better. The thing that really struck me was that I actually became emotionally attached to the characters. Very few games have made me really think about the decisions I make and how they affect the characters in it. It made me care about whether a character died or survived, unlike ME2 or other games where the choices impacted the outcome.
(no, not because I couldn't find any good units for protoss, in case you were wondering)
Yeah, it's cause you couldn't find any bad units for Protoss
I liked bioshock infinity's story so much that I'd give it well over a 7/10. Maybe 8 to 8.5. It does lose a lot of points because of the relatively uninteresting gameplay.
I feel like this is relevant (The end of the video could be said to be NSFW )

I would have given a higher score to Elizabeth if only she was a bit more interesting. I didn't like her running off very often, invisible to enemies and kept telling me she has ammo and she returns to her usual self after some pretty emotional events, her relationship with songbird was also a bit disappointing

I worked around 11 hours sometimes back when I worked part time as a store assistant. Not really sure if they have a legal maximum working hour though, I think there is only one for under 18 teens.
It is said average HK people work around 49 hours per week but finance field is definitly a lot higher than that because of different markets open at different times etc

The story of The Last Of Us was much better than Bioshock Infinite's, in my opinion, and Ellie was invisible to enemies too. I never had much of a problem with that, although it would be awesome if the game was just that much more dynamic and therefore that much more immersive. That being said, I'm willing to overlook a few issues when other parts of the game redeem them.
FFX even in the original was great, with some of the lushest, most gorgeous environments created out of all the FF games. It's so beautiful that I don't even mind having to run in one line for most of the game.
Also Yuna is fucking awesome, and though the story is a bit clusterfuckish at time, it's still coherent enough that you can get what they're trying to say (a bit like FF7, which is also clusterfuckish, but not enough that it doesn't make sense). Plus, a lot of cool concepts, esp. the fayth and the pyreflies and all. Love, love, love the game, even with the terrible voice acting.

the last of us is SO GOOD. Ellie actually helps in combat. while she is invisible to the enemies, she would sometimes use her knife to help you out, but it's rare.
for infinite, I guess I expected too much when watching the 2010 demo.
Elizabeth was more interesting Songbird had that strong appearance and looks like he will have many appearances. and just the overall game felt a lot darker and interesting.
