Hi TL,
I am freaking out because my laptop is not in my backpack.
So I am writing this blog because I am trying to logically figure out what could of happened to my laptop so that I can remain calm and finish my homework and go to my TA session. Right now all I want to do write now is go searching for my laptop, looking on craiglist/ebay for my laptop, and go home (an hour away) to check if I left it there. I need to get my shit together and finish my homework or I'll have a terrible start to the semester.
I understand that you guys should have no freaking idea where my laptop is, but I am hoping you can shed some insight on what most likely happened to my laptop so that I can stop freaking out.
I carry my laptop everywhere and don't remember taking it out in a public place. I am fairly certain only three possible scenarios occured:
1. Left it at home - I take out sometimes to check things, but I do have a desktop at home
2. Stolen in the office - I went to work yesterday and took out my laptop to work on a few things. I left my room for a while. I don't remember if I put it back in my backpack or not.
3. Stolen on the train - I took out a book from backpack then fell asleep with my backpack unzipped. Someone would have to have put their hand in my backpack and removed the laptop. Are people really this evil? There were also other people on the train so would they steal it in public?
My laptop charger is still in my backpack so I'm kinda leaning towards it was stolen.. but I really can't remember anything since I've been thinking about my homework all of yesterday.
Poll: What happened to my laptop ?!Stop writing blogs, do your homework, you idiot! (11) 48% Left it at home (8) 35% Got stolen on the train (3) 13% Got stolen at my work (1) 4% 23 total votes Your vote: What happened to my laptop ?! When you were working in the office yesterday, did you have the laptop plugged in? If so, then it wasn't stolen in the office. The thief would have either taken the charger as well, or you would have noticed the charger being there without your laptop.
I also doubt it was stolen on the train. People don't steal laptops in public since it's so obviously seen.

I chuckled a little when I read that line. But, on topic, you probably left it at home. It's possible someone took it, but who would steal a laptop on a train? The workplace is a possibility, but if you trust the people you work with, then it's not likely it was taken there.

I noticed the difference in the weight of my backpack this morning... That's why I started freaking out.
I just don't remember taking my laptop out of my backpack when I got home or I wouldn't have written this blog.
Sigh... when shit like this happens you can't think straight. I realize if it's at home, there's no reason to go home just to make sure it's there and if it's stolen there's nothing I can do now so I should just go about my day like normal... but I cant.
FML - I'm going to end up bombing this homework and get home and realize my laptop is stolen T.T

You'd be surprised at what gets stolen on the train. I know a guy that fell asleep on the train and had his 70 Euro jeans stolen from him while he was wearing them.

yes I been to coffee shops and other places but never took my laptop out. I still have my backpack so I doubt anyone stole it there.

It's most likely you just forgot it at home.
Anyway I feel like commenting since a few people thought it would be unlikely that someone stole it on the train. Actually crowded trains and busses are some of the best places to steal since most persons line of sight will be blocked. In a team with 3 persons, where 2 of them act as line of sight blockers it's very easy. Experienced pickpockets even manage to open backpacks that someone wears on their back and steal from it or snatch a purse out of the trouser pocket, so you can imagine how easy this is in comparison. The sad reality is even if someone saw it most people will not do anything. Either they are perplexed and unsure how to act, they are scared or they think someone else will have seen it too and hope that that person reacts until it is too late and the pickpockets quickly exit at the next station.

Were they so baggy they hanged at his knees? Otherwise I don't quite see how this was possible, actually i still really dont see how it is possible.

Sorry but thats so stupid you deserve to have it stolen lol.
My wife once walked around with her bag unzipped alone. I saw her in the middle of a supermarket, walked up behind her, took her purse, passport and phone and walked off and waited by the checkouts, 20 minutes later she's freaking out realising she's been robbed and cant pay until i walk up and get a slap for what i did.
She wasnt stupid again though. She's lucky it was me that did it. You werent so lucky.
