Solo queue Dota 2 aka why I might quit this game

So obviously I can always improve blah blah blah but there are a serious problems that Dota 2 solo queue harbors, for example.

1) I can see what everyone is doing at all times, in games like Counter strike I can't see what my team is doing, I don't know why they died or how and I can only assume they aren't completely retarded, in Dota I can see that my team more often than not makes extremely retarded choices. To them, I probably make the same dumb choices, however, since they are under a microscope while I am watching them I can scrutinize their every move.

2) I am basically playing an RTS with 4 AI on my team when I solo queue, there is no real communication since most people just don't care to listen. We just had a game where no support built mek when it was sorely needed, this isn't being bad this is just being stupid.

3) There is no benefit to solo queue, there's no ladder and if you didn't play dota 1 you are extremely behind the curve so even if you did get awesome you are likely no where near awesome enough to be near the top.

4) Having a team gives me a reason to get frustrated, even if I am the problem my brain immediately assumes its my team and not me no matter how much I know this is almost always wrong it's always my teams fault and it's actually getting to the point where it's ruining my day IRL because I get so frustrated losing

So that's my problem right now, I think I might quit until they put in ladders and people queue more seriously and I can find people to play with or I might just quit Dota all together and go back to Sc2 where my mistakes are my problem and I can adjust them instead of ruining my day focusing on bad team mates.

Does anyone know a way to remedy this problem? Has anyone had a similar experience and fixed it somehow?

Make friends.

Seriously, I started dota six months ago, and now I have 300 steam friends and a guild that I made with 60 of my own friends that I play pubstacks with. It's not hard if you try.

The easy way to fix it is to keep playing. Sooner or later you accept that team mates have bad games, even if you make friends and play with them this keeps true.

I solo queue 99% of my games after having played in clans etc prior to this. The downside of random teams is easily made up by not having to wait 10 minutes for people to go out with their dog.

Problem is, I am fucking awful at making friends, I am just really bad at up and talking to people and generally rely on them talking to me first, It's something I've struggled with my whole life.

the "dont want to listen"-argument might be working for most of the games. but thats no reason to stop it.
from time to time you will run into a party that will gladly listen and/or reply and build up communication.

and from my experience so far, usually the pub-party need good supports badly. they all pick some carry stuff and act like dendi. but if you are a useful supporter they will gladly accept your effort for the team.

so be a friendly person, try to communicate in every game (text or voice) and think about doing some of the support work even if you arent support. blaming the teammates is very easy, but balance out their errors (except feeding) requires some skill and also some guts.
Ooooh, look at it go

The saddest part is when you stop making suggestions to teammates because you feel they will rage and throw.

When you feel frustrated with nob teammates, you can always try playing a game like SCBW where only your own mistakes make you lose.

I had a 4 stack report me today because I kept politely asking bane to build a mek and he ended up building a level 1 necro at 40 minutes, sometimes it makes me want to uninstall the game.

If you dont wanna go the make-friends-route, go the opposite way: dont care about anyone but yourself.

Decide for yourself what you want to play. "This game I wanna play jungle Rubick!". Then go play jungle Rubick. Dont let anyone stop you having your jungle Rubick fun. Next game play something in the offlane. Next game a hard carry. Dont expect people to give you whatever support you'd probably need as hard carry. Just play it because YOU want to.

If your team mates bother you just mute them. Hell, mute them pre-game. Stop checking their inventories or look at what they do. Just play what you want and have fun. If they have a problem with your jungle Rubick, well, thats exactly their problem, not yours. You're having fun.

And before anyone tell me "its a team game blah blah". Yes, if you want to play as a team and maximize your winning potential, ofc what I said above is a terrible idea. If you solely get enjoyment from improving and winning you should always try to communicate with everyone and do whats best for the team even if the rest arent cooperating at all. But very few work like that. If asked, most people will say they want to win and do whats best for the team. And then a team mate makes a mistake and they go emo and go into i-dont-care-mode or go steal farm from another lane or whatever.

Just caring about yourself might be a recipe for disaster if your goal is to win games, but if everyone actually only cared for themselves and stopped getting mad at what their team mates do, dota would be a 6329% happier place.

Stack!

It sounds like you're somewhat competitive (if you're eyeing up your teammates for quality of play) and nothing helps more in self-improvement and understanding the game than peers to bounce ideas off and help each other improve. You're articulate and it's the internet, talking to people and playing with them shouldn't be that big a deal... next time you run into someone you liked playing with in a game, invite them to friends and see if they wanna play another. Other sets of eyes help you improve, and fresh perspectives give a better idea of the truth of the game.

From time to time I just get randomly invited to parties after some games... Suddenly i'm in a eastern european/russian stack where the 3 guys that actually use a mic all sound like Ivan from Rocky 3...

Was hilarious :D.

Tipp:
If you tought "wow, for once this was a nice solo-q"... Just ask/invite the others to play again towards the end of the game.

Communication, while important, is also not really the end all of it... Some Players just "inately" work with each other better than others... This can easily make the diffrence between losing your lane and totally demolishing it... A simple "Ping" is enough "communication" for most actions anway...

This is pretty much how I look at the game when I'm solo queuing. Which isn't to say that my teammates are always bad, just that I don't necessarily get emotionally involved in how they play. I'm usually only thinking about my positioning and how I can contribute the most towards getting an advantage in any given situation. Whatever my teammates do, I accept it as a fact of life and try to play around what they're doing.

I actually solo queue when I want a more relaxing experience, plug in some good music and just chill out while making plays happen. I stress out a lot more playing with people I know and can talk to, with the added pressure and expectations (going both ways), and raging or long, uncomfortable silences when someone makes an obvious mistake or doesn't listen.

I think that is a great way mindset to go with, but it's not that easy to maintain. Especially in dota you are very often reliant on spells of your mates, e.g. stuns. That is just how the game works. If the cooperation with your mates does not work, the game gets frustrating very fast, because very rarely you can make something happen on your own.

Therefore if i play dota it is only with a 3 to 5 stack of friends. Lucikly it is very easy to get gather some nice companions in dota. Just be friendly ingame and if you feel like you met someone who seems nice, add them as friends and invite them into your voicechat for the next game.

I would have reported you as well. Asking 1 or at the utmost 2 times is fine. Anything beyond that is spamming.

I tend to prefer playing on EU servers to the US ones mostly since EU ones have less communication and expectation of it. People expect 1/2 people each game not to be able to say more than miss and ping everywhere. That is exactly the level I have the most fun at.

A mentality I see in myself and a few others that makes pretty much any game fun is always trying to win. I pick whatever hero I want, after that I play my utmost to win until a throne dies. All 4 team mates leave, I try to win. Some of the most fun stuff is when you try to micro all 5 heroes in a base defence, especially as you have like no items. :D

I don't recall when I solo queued last time. I only have a couple DotA friends but I only queue when they're around, even though we very rarely get a full 5 stack together and our skill levels are all over the place, it's still a more enjoyable experience than solo queueing.

Depending on which friend I queue with I either have to carry really hard or play 9 games in a row as the 6 position support, that happened just now, streak still going.

Just attempt to find people to queue with, fuck solo queuing in a competitive 5vs5 game.

That sounds like a really nice attitude to have. Personally I've worked a lot on my negativity, and I nowadays at least try to be objective and think whether or not there is a chance we can come back, even if it takes massive mistakes from the opponents. That said, it's just so frustrating when you come up with a perfectly valid way to win (just stay passive, farm, defend) and your teammates just completely ignore it (run across river alone, die crying in enemy jungle). I guess there's just comes to a point where I literally can't ignore the rest of my team.

If you consider saying "can someone build a mek" 4-5 times over the course of a 50 minute game spamming then you are the perfect example of the kind of people that make Dota frustrating so I can't say I agree with your view. Hell, half the time I'll just build it myself but on a hero that can't support the mana cost I shouldn't have to ask.

What's even funnier is when you say that you're building mek and then another asswipe builds a headdress 5 minutes after you've made it.

As for servers, in my experience, there are more Brazilians/Russians on NA but most of EU chat is broken English, filled with "omg I report u" and "y u so noob suk".

Played this game for 1 month, uninstalled it and i dont regret it even 1 second. The amount of people doing stupid things in this game is just retarded. Had so many games where i got only trolls, emoquitters, feeders, kamikaze, leavers, nonstop pauses, and i said to myself "why the hell am i wasting my time for these idiots?". In a short sentence, im not having fun. Even with friends rage factor still appears and sometimes. Uninstalled the game and that was my short and only contact with moba games. Played many multiplayer games but in dota2 ( and other mobas i hear) the community is just too toxic.
