In relation to my last blog, I’ve managed to not play any games. I do work through a laptop that really isn’t geared to game. I wonder if things would be different if I had brought my desktop. I definitely would have gotten owned in my current classes by the sheer amount of work if I tried to game. So, I am somewhat thankful. Seeing a few of these BW pros leaving the SC2 scene, I can’t help but feel the urge to play again. But, I feel comfortable with the way my life is now, it’s convenient. These days I don’t have much free time (heh I'm typing this during finals week), but I think that’s only because I’m busy trying to get used to the workload in these classes (transfer student). I’m hoping to get adjusted to the work pace at UCLA so I can finish things faster and more efficiently during Fall quarter. That’s the main reason I took a 6 week summer session w/ 9 units. I know there are some people that take 12 units or more during this time, which is inspiring.
I currently live in an apartment off campus on Glenrock if ya know. It’s pretty cheap and a little run down, but hey it’s a place to live. During Thursday, Friday and weekends there are tons of loud parties. I feel left out ;;
How the hell can people party this much while studying and doing assignments? Are they even attending classes? Please teach me how.
My apartment used to be a mess, especially when I moved in, but now it’s clean. There is still mold in the bathrooms, but whatever. I have no light switch in my bedroom, so I study and do my work in the kitchen most of the time (that’s fine too). The arrangement of furniture in the living room and kitchen looked like it was scrapped together and compiled by a hobo, hence this dusty ass couch that no one sits on:

One of the stove burners doesn’t work/leaks gas, and I had to clean the kitchen when I first moved in because it was a fucking disaster, including the refrigerator. The last tenants that lived here must have not used the kitchen because dust bunnies lined the drawers...everything. Stains on the floor, stove, and fridge. I found a fucking hundred year old vegetable in the fridge, among other things that I wouldn’t expect at an archaeological site. If you’ve ever watched that episode of Cowboy Bebop where Spike finds that old fridge in the attic and forgot that he left a lobster inside of it:

Yeah it was like this...
Two of my roommates are international students from Barcelona, Spain. They’re really chill and it definitely would have been a boring experience without them, but I feel bad for not showing them around. Although, they are out a lot of the time and travel during the weekends. I introduced them to ramen (the staple food of the college student). They now love it and eat it once, if not twice a day.
I also taught them how to do laundry and use a can opener, which, despite their attempts, could not figure out the contraption. However, one device I didn’t know how to use was this antique vacuum cleaner. The handle didn’t bend, and I couldn’t figure out how to get the bag out in the back. I ended up ripping it and dust flew everywhere. Not to mention, in the process of my roommate using it, it sucked up a nail and got stuck inside. To hide the fact that it was fucked up we put it outside on the balcony, where there is few other discarded things from past residents:

Another thing I couldn’t figure out was why the laundry room is pink and a random asshole put my clothes in the dryer after they barely finished washing. There are 3 other goddamn washers not being used and this guy chooses to take my stuff out (underwear and blankets) and put it in the dryer. Why would you want to touch my underwear man?
The most annoying thing though is carrying 30 lbs of groceries uphill and 1 mile from the market. People stare at me in pity of not having a car and having to walk in the unbearable heat. It’s been burning hot or humid at all times of the day. I probably shouldn't complain considering my area of interest for archaeology. Luckily it’s been cool for the past 2 days though.
I also went out with this cute Japanese Korean girl. But, maybe a girl blog is in order if anything happens. I doubt it will...maybe.
Other than this stuff, the UCLA campus is very nice. I’ve already picked my favorite restroom and place to study. It will definitely be a greater experience when I move on campus and interact with other transfer students as well as those that share my passion. The chicks here are sweet.
Sorry for the random insights, but thanks for reading ^^
