EPTThat being said, there are a few areas where I draw the line and will probably be mocked for my inner 'Murican.
For instance, although I mostly like Swedish food I plan on keeping my distance to all sorts of herring (my dad always tried to get me to eat that crap), I'm not too fond of crayfish, and I equate Kalle's to Spam in that it's obsolete food technology which should be thrown into the flames of Mordor. Fortunately the 7-11s in Sweden actually sell decent sandwiches (in the US they don't sell edible food) but I am going to miss having immediate access to a grill. Speaking of which, does anyone know if they sell indoor George Foreman things in Sweden?
Another thing that I've noticed is that the mainstream Swedish sense of humor is completely non-nonsensical IMO. Pretty much all of the commercials during Dreamhack are a good example of that (remember that weird video with Native Americans dancing to house music?) What's interesting is that I've seen a bunch of shows on Swedish TV that I think they find funny even though most of the jokes are probably not getting through to them. For instance, I've seen Seinfeld played with Swedish subtitles and all of the "New York" references and colloquialisms are obviously not geared at the Swedish audience or translated correctly. I'm actually curious whether they broadcast Arrested Development at all because those jokes are even more subtle.
Also what's with the guys wearing those loose-fitting scarves? I know it gets cold up there, and that really can't be very effective at keeping warm...
Silly rants aside, I'm actually really excited about living in Stockholm. I've always hoped to get a chance to study abroad and it's by coincidence that I have a citizenship in the biggest e-sport country outside of Korea. It's also going to be a shift between living in the suburbs (I've always commuted to school) and living in a big city, where there's almost always something cool to do. I'll probably head down to Inferno quite a bit next week while I wait for my PC to arrive (USPS pls don't kill it) and hit up the EU ladder
I also planning to start practicing my casting skills so hopefully I can find a way to contribute to the Swedish SC2 scene. Oh fuck I forgot to buy a winter coat
