Hey Guys!

The show is now only StarCraft tactics on Thursdays. I still do the gaming news on Tuesdays, but we figure this will make things more segregated so people aren't only watching half or skipping to StarCraft!

This week we talk about:
How to open greedily as Terran against all races, with a few tips on what to scout and how to defend depending on certain cases. I've personally been having problems with Protoss Oracle all-ins and Reaper openings in TvT.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about how am I doing, not only as a convey-er of StarCraft tips in terms of what I am teaching, but also how I am doing it! You guys said you wanted me to keep it newbie friendly somewhat, and I think that's a great direction!

I also feel it is helping my own play and analysis/casting experience to get used to talking and thinking about these ideas. If nothing else, the production quality is awesome!

NOTE:
These tips are for low to mid level players who are trying to get up to the last couple of leagues, so they are somewhat basic. Also, I am only a Platinum level player, so I have Masters and Grandmaster players helping me with the tips. Can't be saying things that are too silly!

ABOUT TARA TALKS
I'm now collaborating with Zoomin.TV Games (a YouTube channel with over 300,000 subs) too bring little StarCraft II tips and gaming news to a mainstream gaming audience. I am on a mission to help new players get into competitive SC2 gaming!
I give the news, let people know what I think, then I relay a small StarCraft tip that I wrote with the help of high-level friends, and gameplay I recorded (for the most part). I hope you guys enjoy the content!

I'm a pretty good Terran player so the vids don't apply to me cause I know this stuff. But really good job Tara. Was a really good educational video, for lower level players. a sugestion for a thing I'd be interested in is if you actually breakdown build orders that pros use. Like for example a reaper expand opening. But I am sure you have thought of doing this for later videos. Anywho keep up the good work. I was wondering here the news was at, I enjoy a quick video game news update from you haha, so Tuesdays o.o.

Yeah, I agree that would be interesting, but at the same time, that's what EVERYONE does. If you can see a stream where Day[9], Artosis, Khaldor, and other important people are doing this, why would they watch me as only a mid-level player?

These videos are for a channel comprised mostly of low-level SC2 players, and the majority has never even played SC2. My videos are more about basics, tips, and great production quality all packaged neatly in 3-6 minutes or so. I wanna create different content for wider audiences. I feel that the SC2 community often gets stuck in a rut with build orders, pro replay casts, and stream quality.

Its good to see that you know your place in the community. Having a niche is a great way to gain more viewers and stay focused on what you want to accomplish. Maybe after becoming better at the game you can then branch out to fill other niches. These short and quick tutorials provide a lot of information in a video and is great for low level players to rewatch over and over again while they play. I do think if you are going to refer to certain builds you need to reference those builds in liquipedia or give a general guideline. For example, the first 3-4 steps of CC first are pretty simple to leave in a video description.

Yep, it's just the greediest you can go and how you can defend against each race with scouting and position... Hence the title of this week's tip! Last week's Zerg tips was all hatch first excluding ZvP.

Thanks! It was just an awesome opportunity to spread the joy of StarCraft to all kinds of gamers, and it's a great stepping stone.

It annoys me when people give low ratings to a blog which is actually useful. I enjoyed how concise the instructions were, and the video being only 3 mins and 'bitesize' means it's easy to digest. You being in the bottom right hand corner is a really nice touch, when I watch instructional vids for like FIFA the lack of that makes it kind of impersonal whereas your one feels somewhat like a coaching lesson.

I'm just a Gold League player, in WoL I played as Protoss and now I'm trying to see how HotS makes me feel with Zerg. Before playing SC2 I watched like 5 months of streams, tournaments and youtube videos. But your videos (last episode) reminded me of something really essential I was not doing as a Zerg: scouting.
Yesterday I played 2 ZvZ matches in which I scouted before expanding, spotted early pool, answered with pool, canceled gas, get spines, zerglings and some drones for defense and ended up winning because of the economy lead (yes, their mistake was to rush to my base without checking for my expansion.

You are doing a good job, posting the videos on YouTube makes it easier to look for them and watch again if needed.
Keep it up!

Aww, thanks! It's great to hear from someone that is around my skill level. A lot of the stuff I struggled with recently from Gold to Plat, and back when I was Silver, was just remembering the basic, yet essential, shit. Having something succinct laid out for me about what exactly to look for and why like I am doing in my videos always helps me a lot on my journey.

A lot of people say I shouldn't be doing these videos since I'm not Masters or GM, but to me, it's more like I am teaching things I am learning currently in a way I know I'd understand at my level. Pro gamers and casters are often out of touch or don't remember what it's like to rise in the ranks. This is more like having a practice partner, than having someone entitled or know-it-all-ish pumping you full of knowledge.

Yeah, but what do you expect. People have a bad taste in their mouths about me, and are very quick to rate. :-/

I'm really glad you feel that way about my videos. I learn the best this way, and I don't feel like there were any shows like this before. That's why I call them "tips" not "tutorials". I'm glad to hear some people are enjoying it! Makes all the editing and messing with stupid Sony Vegas for hours worth it! :D
