First have a song.
+ Show Spoiler +https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Sh0B5atR4 I adore this song, and Big Mike.
I was on the bus with a friend the other day (technically a friend of a friend), talking about our experiences. He's a poly sci major, and he's been around the world via vacationing, study abroad, and more. Specifically, we were talking about why you shouldn't speak English in Spain (he'd been there before). I guess I should also mention that we're both Filipino.
His experiences were all first hand - he interacted with people for some time in foreign countries while physically being there. The topic got to Scandinavian countries, and how the people there tend to be good at speaking English (I think TL is a good example of this), and I mentioned that I'd made some friends from that area. He asked how, and I said, well, I played games online with them.
Of course that's technically a lie. I never bought an EU Bnet account. But I did make friends with a lot of people through LR threads, KMD, and just being around TL, and many of them are from that area. I've done my best to keep up with them (that's a lie, I barely log onto skype anymore and I apologize, but I've been very busy at uni, especially because I started from pretty much 0 and now I've built up a fair amount of friends that I'll get to grow with for another couple years).
It's so cool to me that even though we both had different ways about it - he spent a few months in foreign countries and I've spent a few years talking to people in them - they're both equally valid ways of learning about diversity. Sure you can argue that actually being there is "better" but that doesn't invalidate my experiences of learning about different cultures - nothing will.
Diversity is awesome. I love you Team Liquid.
+ Show Spoiler [another song] +
Special shoutout to everyone in KMD, MFT, and the LR crew. You're truly the best.
More about my life, since I've been very inactive compared to before.
- I'm almost done with my Freshman year in Uni (I study Biology at Illinois, s/o to Illinois CSL)
- IT'S FINALS WEEK FUCK FUCK FUCK
- I've learned so much more than I possibly could have imagined at the start of the year. I couldn't begin to describe them (partially because there's a lot of personal things, partially because there's so many, and partially because a lot of it has to do with religion and I don't want to get into that online). If you're an incoming freshman in the fall to any US university, please don't be afraid to shoot me a PM and ask me some stuff. The highlight would probably be realizing that grades aren't everything. Even though I didn't get a spectacular GPA (I'm not an all A student lol), my success this year can't be measured by that alone. Especially when you consider that I've made so many friends and met so many people, learned so much about myself, and the next point.
- I'll be working as a Resident Adviser for the residence halls next year. I'm super pumped about this. Even though it'll be a tough job (especially with drunk people), I get to directly impact people's lives by helping them through a critical part of their lives - their first year in uni.
- I've pretty much gotten over SC2. Bleh. I don't play a lot of games these days, I spent most of my time with people now. But I've been playing Saints Row 3 on my PC, I'll try to start learning Dota 2 for TI3 in the summer, and I recently got Black Ops 2 at the behest of some friends so I can play with them. I play on the xbox.
- I'll stream in the summer. We'll see what games.
- I started working out. I didn't for a lot of late March - early April, but I've been pretty consistent. ALL THE GAINS.
Thanks for reading. Back to studying T___T.

GOGOGO!! Sounds like you're having a fantastic time over there
Haven't been able to talk to you that much, but yeah. Press on, go rip those finals a new one!
I have 7 exams in the next 11 days myself, but most of them are only like 2.5-3 hours long or something so they're probably not as ridic as your guys' finals and shit Good luck!

wtf that's crazy. I mean I have 3 in 4 but I'm given 3 hours too.. To be fair mine particularly aren't that bad (1 cumulative that I'll probably take 2 hours for, and 2 non cumulative that should take me 30-45 mins) but still.

I'm in my first year in uni too, and the experience is much better than I had initially anticipated at the start of the year before I moved away from home. My introverted personality does not make it easy for me to make friends, but the change of scenery and the new people served as a catalyst for me to be empowered socially. Fairly early on I got introduced to interesting individuals which led to me meeting their friends, which has a kind of snowball effect.
I also play games less and less now, but that was mostly due to the fact that I struggled to get my wifi set up here. I live privately, which certainly makes it harder to be sociable, but both my parents and I came to the conclusion that it'd not be fitting for me to stay in a residence. South Africa is a very diverse place and, coming from a small town and now entering a big city, I finally got the chance to mingle with other cultures more.
Exams are looming ahead for me too, although those will only occur at the beginning of June. Good luck to you and I hope that you'll be streaming sometime soon!

heh it's pretty interesting to see that I've done a complete 180 turn compared to you..
You are studying for finals, almost ready to finish your first year.
I just got kicked out of of college, last day of classes of my freshman year (can't take the finals and so am not getting any credits for the classes I took last semester).
Since I have a lot more free time, I have been playing starcraft2 alot more, it's really the only game I play now.
I haven't been working out

On the plus side, we're both still on TL! ^_^ Thing'll get better, unless you're happy now, in which case, they might still get better.
What games should I stream other than dota 2?
