Well Blizzard is pretty good at retconning so they will probably just introduce him as a completely new villain or something.

I think it's always been largely about kerrigan though, sure there were some parts in broodwar that didn't have much to do with her but she has always been a big part of the picture. Maybe a little bit too much though

The story of Wings of Liberty was Jimmy Raynor and friends go on a big adventure. Heart of the Swarm seems like Kerrigan and friends go on a big adventure. Legacy of the Void will almost certainly be Zeratul and friends go on a big adventure. I think you're right to take issue with how single-character-focused the HotS storyline is, but that's not a new development; that shift in the franchise started 2.5 years ago.

I think you're right to take issue with how single-character-focused the HotS storyline is, but that's not a new development; that shift in the franchise started 2.5 years ago. The problem is two-fold: A) They didn't introduce any new and interesting characters in SC2: WoL (alright, with the exception of the official appearance of the long-known Valerian Mengsk, the official appearance of Nova, the overly optimistic pilot guy, and Tosh) B) They killed off like 90% of the characters from the SC universe in Brood War's campaigns. Chris Metzen actually talks about this with a little bit of regret at the 2008 Lore panel for SC2; he jokes that the story team was a little bit "angsty" and went with the "this character has served their purpose, they can die now" philosophy far too often in SC1. Also, to be fair, if you replace each of the game titles with their race and the word "Campaign" after it, you would be describing the structure for both previous Starcraft games as well. The major difference is that we'll have to wait for all three games to have the same amount of quality characters that were in one of the previous titles, so that does slightly suck.

I feel like they definitely should maintain the multiple plots; i.e. the protoss have their issues, so do the zerg, so do the terran. And I think to some extent they have accomplished that, it definitely made WoL more interesting. I guess the main issue is just, I would prefer if Kerrigan's character had some more depth to it, and hopefully its not just emotional issues she has to deal with

Edit: Forgot to mention Narud/Duran. I want to see what plot twists they have in store for him now that he's been re-introduced. I saw he was working with Raynor and Valerian in the excerpt Blizzard posted from the book that takes place between WoL and HotS.

Now we just get Kerrigan who wants vengeance, and sounds epic. Its a really lame replacement, that makes me feel bad to play zerg to the point where I want to play terran now. The Zerg is ultimately led by one being, who is assisted by multiple yes-men and opposed by everyone else. You get to follow the head-honcho's orders, move crystals around, do favors for Kerrigan, and kill lots and lots of people. Kerrigan is the only 'real' character contained within this race, so everything will center around what she does, and who wants to stop her.

I feel like the starcraft's plot progression depends too much on her character. It is a cool character but I guess they can't depend on her forever. Maybe in the future they can set up another hero/villain which will be the center of the plot but with Kerrigan being so emblematic wouldn't it will be hard to reach her status. What do you think? Hehe...I can't help but think that this is a joke...JimmyRaynor just begging for more SC screen time, "Get Kerrigan out of here and focus on me! Maybe we need more Jimmy, less of that infested bitch."

I was wondering whether anyone would comment on the fact that OP's name is Jimmy Raynor...I mean, seriously! That one's just waiting to be taken. That being said, would agree w/ nina in that the story is just terrible lol, it's like they just up and quit trying to give the campaign any semblance of a compelling narrative because they figured they should only care about multiplayer. Fair enough, I never really cared for campaign anyway tbh >.<
