You get to follow the head-honcho's orders, move crystals around, do favors for Kerrigan, and kill lots and lots of people. Kerrigan is the only 'real' character contained within this race, so everything will center around what she does, and who wants to stop her.

Seriously, Kerrigan goes from absolutely demolishing joint Terran Dominion-UED-Protoss force to getting kicked around by marginalized raiders; I wonder what could have resulted in sudden degradation of Zerg tactics hmmmmm

Not to mention, Kerrigan actually managed to make the swarm itself WORSE. She takes over and after a few years, some of the most useful specialist races of the Zerg are suddenly extinct and replaced with a series of much more broad species' who desperately try to fill all of the now missing roles. Autocracy has not been fair to the Zerg. If I had more faith in Metzen/the starcraft lore team, I would actually believe they did this on purpose.
