Hands down the best philosophy program in the country, or at least in the top 5 year after year when schools jocky for position on random internet poll sites, and at least top 10 in the world. No matter what I do there it will be the highest caliber of study, to be honest USC, Claremont Mckenna, Columbia, even a lot of state school, and other schools are just as good as Stanford in some areas or better in some, but none are as all around strong as Stanford, not even a lot of the Ivies. Now its not like Stanford is perfect, its not, but it has been a goal of mine since I understood what college is. Partially some of it is to fuel my ego, and I won't lie about that. When I walked on the campus I didn't get that OMG must go here feeling, but I just kind of knew that if I shoot for something shoot for as high as I can so that if I fall, I don't fall too far from the top (thats not how physics works, but humor me ).

I'm fairly sure Stanford is not the top philosophy school in the US (at least for undergrad). Stanford is of course a very competitive school. To be frank, when someone with scores similar to yours is accepted, it is probably not be for his/her 4.23 GPA, 30 ACT, or 2000 SAT. Don't worry too much about those numbers at this point. Try to get an interview, show them that you're challenging yourself. It's not impossible to stand out. If you're passionate about something, push that in as many ways you can think of. Remember that even for most of the 7% of freshmen that Stanford accepts, it's a reach school. Try to have a safety school in mind that you would be proud to graduate from. You are obviously trying hard, and you're far from the point of no return (it's true). You're going to amount to something for sure whether or not you go to Stanford. Good luck!

Bottom line: having a religious devotion to one school makes little sense, and this kind of attitude borders on blaming a grade on whatever happens instead of realizing that you and you alone could have prevented any of this from happening. Only you and you alone know how hard you were trying.
