Having fun in HOTS PvP

Hi everyone,

I've been getting back into HOTS lately, and have had some really fun PvP's using a Phoenix/Carrier build that I normally use in WoL. This time however of course there are adjustments based on Tempest and whatnot, so there have been some really fun ones today while I was streaming that I thought I'd post so that if you have HOTS you can take a quick look. Protoss players who lament in the boring state of PvP with colo v colo battles in WoL, raise your hopes!

DUCKVILLE vs Apparatus - 38 minutes - Newkirk City - Phoenix into Carrier as standard, Tempest later on, and Colo/Stalker/Tempest from Apparatus iirc: http://drop.sc/281791 (If you don't have HOTS and you want to have a quick look you can check out the VOD here.)

This was my second game of the day, it was pretty cool to hit the new map Newkirk city which I find a bit of a weird map but still fun to play on.

Phoenix harassment like a muta clump!

Got to mid/late game and had some interesting battles, positioning and engagement strategies were the important part of this game

Late game Carrier/Tempest/Mship vs Mship/Stalker/Tempest engagement

DUCKVILLE vs Fedazilon - 35 minutes - Daybreak - Phoenix into Carrier again, this time sticking almost to pure Carrier. This was a game that did show the weakness of the build to blink stalker mobility and multi-attacks, given that both Carriers and Tempest are really slow

Cloaked Carriers against a few Tempest along with a huge amount of Stalkers...

This one was a huge game, and at the end my FPS started dying because of all the high-power units on the map along with Mothership cloak, but the battles were pretty cool.

Tempest vs Carrier/Tempest/late Phoenix!

I know it's not a "super viable meta-game changing" strategy, but it is fun. And isn't that what we play for?

I dont know about this lol, looks like a pvz. I really dislike massive air units hope protoss doesn't become reliant on them.

I wouldn't say P will become 'reliant' on them - but when it comes to PvP specifically, they REALLY help break up the state of play. I don't think (at least initially) you'll see too much of the current "well now that it's 25 minutes we both have 20 colossus lets just arrange them in a nice arc - oh whoops my arc was slightly worse than yours, good day sir" kinda shit because Tempest really throw a spanner in the works of that kind of play, to a certain extent.

Yeah there are actually just SO many lasers/plasma balls flying around sometimes it gets a little messy. Unlike ZvZ Infestor vs Infestor/Broodlord vs Broodlord however - because generally the units are "distanced" it's not too hard to tell what's going down. I have had a couple of games whereby it was Carrier V Carrier and it kind of looks like inf terran v inf terran - but still I think it's a little easier to see what's going on.
