Normally at this time the sun would be almost overhead my Massachusetts home.
Nope.This morning is different.
The sky has been overwhelmed by grayish clouds, and the wind is slowly picking up. Even though Sandy is still miles away, it's affecting the weather systems of the whole region.
The last time we had a storm like this, last year, power was cut for several days. I know that may not seem like so much to many people, but I rely on the Internet for everything I do.
At the very least, school is cancelled. I'll be able to take pictures and post them here before and during the storm.
I'm praying that nothing bad happens, but who knows...
"New research from the Niels Bohr Institute in Denmark clearly shows that there is an increasing tendency for tropical cyclones when the climate warms"
[From the abstract]
"In particular, we estimate that Katrina-magnitude events have been twice as frequent in warm years compared with cold years"
Because seriously, there should be a thread about this and climate change, if not at the least live reporting from inside this fecker which is what I hope this blog turns out to be ^^.

And risk getting struck by flying debris, sounds epic.
Nothing happens during the eye of the hurricane, the middle of a hurricane is completely safe. Just be sure to get inside before the other side passes over.

The eye is calm. Standing in the center of the eye of Hurricane Katrina was a breathtaking experience.
I have this horrific image of you just standing in the middle of a hurricane, naked, with your eyes shut and arms in the air, laughing as the world goes to shit. Sometimes I worry about myself.
