What do you want in a starcraft interview?

So, I've noticed that most interviews (minus Day9's with Vibe last night) tend to be really short (just a few minutes) and either just completely silly or just focused on gameplay/tournaments/state of the game/whatever.

Is this what everyone wants to hear about? Personally, I think it would be interesting to have more personal interviews - so you can better get to know the players as people. But maybe I'm just crazy and that isnt interesting to everyone else?

The 5-minute interviews also tend to drive me nuts. I understand that the universe has ADD these days, but I'd love to see more 20-30 minute interviews.

What do you guys all think? What do you want to see in an interview?

hah, and to reply to myself, yes, this is totally (basically) market research for my web show.
I've been doing a bunch of interviews with AHGL folks lately, and enjoying it, so I'm considering changing the format of my show to be interview focused.

Theres a really good written interview of [inter]Mind out there from Broodwar. I learned that his favourite song is creep by radiohead, I learned that he started playing Broodwar just for fun and found success incidentaly, I learned his favourite matchup is TvT because there is no imbalance and I learned that he believes the best way to play competitively is to just "play natural and go with instincts".

If you can get a player to talk in any amount of personal detail you're doing well. Getting people to expand is important... taste in art, other activities they enjoy... but mostly they will come through in the style that they answer rather than the answer.

So as far as interviews go, depends on the context. Like if you were to talk to a player after his match at a MLG or something, I would just like to know about the games and how he thinks his play is going. But if you are doing normal interviews, i'd like some in depth stuff. I'd like to see the players as humans, if that makes any sense.

yup, that makes perfect sense.
I'm thinking normal interviews vs immediately after a tournament.

The AHGL interview series should be wrapping up Nov 7th, so after that I may start my new format.
