Hello Everyone, just like many i love this game, but it is just a game. I dont ever think i can make a living off playing game like the couple of hundred who are streaming on this site!
I am however a 32 year old avid gamer with at least 15 years of SC experience and all of the original games consoles from 1985! Non of that retrospective buying from this gamer! As i get even more older and i see the scene take off more i want to document some of my games and thoughts. We as gold/plat/dia are forever told we dont have any comment on the game because of our low leagues. Im here to say, most of us actually do.
As a real life teacher of computing and maths and ex game programmer, im here to say we do, more than you negatives know, we just cant spam those keys or multi-task on the level you can. this doesnt make our knowledge any less. It has infuriated me for the longest time. This blog aims to document my games and show clearly where to improve. I know it myself, its frustrating when i view the replays i know within the first 6 minutes whats slipping and no matter how i try to focus over time the meta/approach shifts and an oldie like me takes times to adapt. If you have any replays you want me to look over, ill start with gold/plat/dias i can at least give you a focus if thats how you learn and add in some of my RL job experience to give you objective, a method/practice and then a review. Try me out, hell its free! I dont really care if noone reads or i get spammed out of the sea, this is just something for me to do at the end of the working day, doing something i really like. As we know. Haters gonna hate! Its just a game of SC2 people, serious, go and tell anyone outside, noone cares what rank you are, but god it ought to right?
The games:
Game 1: ZvT Win Against mech
Game1 Descrpition
ZvT Win Against mech
Overview. I made a decision he was going mech afte the 6min/7min mark so decided to try constant remax harass. try to keep injects up and make sure you rally a whole force rather than trickle them in. Zerg lings are the absolute key for meat shield get at least 12 larva worth of supply before any attack and keep up on their upgrades!
Sc2 Gears 66% on injects, 52 injects, 15 sec average gap
Good points -
Scouting, i sent things in on time and made decisions at that point, the hellion deter at the start may of or may have not won me the game! i usually lose a full base to this unless i blind tech for it!
the next big thing was to go and test the water with the army i had, i realised i had enough to remax so went at the 3rd and surprisingly killed a lot of gas heavy stuff. the next big thing was seeing the tanks rolling out with the remax and killing all that off.
Bad points
For some reason rallied my infestors to the base.? I dont ever do that i make them and let them build energy while i harass for a minute or scout 66% injects, although i was active trying to inject this needs to be better Blocking ultras in. should the right have been 50 50, this may have lost me the game! random build really, just teched slowly, didnt get 3/3 cracks which i should have done as my plan at the start was to get ultras

No, it does make your knowledge less. If you don't play at a masters level, you can't truly understand at a masters level. Everything changes then, because once everyone can macro well, only THEN does the strategy really play a part. Until then, it's a silly distraction and you can't expect players to understand it at a real level
I.E: Below masters, nobody can macro well. Because of this, all strategy and tactics is basically irrelevant and doesn't necessarily apply at a higher level.
You'll suddenly start to play Mid Masters and be like "How the fuck did I lose so easy" then when you look into it, it's like "oh shit... because he has the basics down as well as me. If I want a chance to beat him, I need to fix all these timings in my build and understand a clear goal for transitions"
Just my opinion... I'm a UK player too, although not played WOL or HOTS for a little while due to homework/guitar/basketball, so add me.

oh ya, no matter how hard i play i dont think ill ever make it to masters, im beating a few low and mid dias atm but its hard as every game i try to go macro, opps seem to just allin. this weekend for this Blog im going to play 20 straight games and stream them and comment i cant be this unlicky. tonight i played 8 games 4 against zerg all 6 pooled. 2 terrans double bunkered. I just think its unnacceptable i have to pull all of my line to defend against it, taking losses (i know hes behind already but hes still mining). As soon as i can do something to scout this shit and be more or less accurate with the info im gonna hate it :D
Watching GM streams however is pretty good as 2 in 10 games seem to go cheese. Too many people in the plat and above just cheesin their way to masters. My friend who is top dia/masters is fed up of the game because if he doesnt place in masters at start of season he gets cheesed every game. i gave him a bit of QQ abuse, sayin it cant be that bad but then i went and saw for myself, tis no joke 20 games 16 cheese and 1base all ins, 6 were that 3 pylon block thing at ramp he gave me all reps because i cant hold it at all . . but then neither could he. it is part of the game i know that but losing to it is frustrating as i can never get enough scouting info. Its a coin flip, i can build to prepare for it . . but what if its not that then im 20 drones behind no chance of a timing and hes already hitting his. GG.

^ This is exactly what I'm talking about. "every game i try to go macro, opps seem to just allin" seems to reflect a fundamental lack of grasp on the game shared by those below masters. Holding all ins should just be a natural part of your play.
To sort of explain what I mean about knowledge, I mean, I installed hots beta yesterday and went straight up to playing Top masters, and GMs like Avilo simply because of me being a masters player and having all those basics and mechanics down. Obviously, knowledge played no part as I had no hots knowledge at all.

Im beginning to put a lot of thoughts into this getting better idea and i have to say mostly all of this comes to active scouting as a zerg.
If you know whats coming and see it coming you generally do better(no new info here but just hear it said once more!)
You can cut drones right at that point and spam the only unit you have available and you just feel better. vs terran just always go 6 queen opener. Vs toss build some roaches at 8mins but see the push! Zerg . . .well . . just see shit leaving his base and . .well zerg infuriates me sometimes . . why dont i do that speedling allin every game like everyone else. i kinda know how idra feels with this! 15 hatch or die trying is the ONLY way to look at it!
Ive had a lot of success over the last 20 games of mine keeping lings outside the ramp as a priority, and ovie at their nat, ovie at their base with a 6min sacrifice EVERY time. Control the towers. this info is repeated a thousand times a day on stream / casts and on guides in this site. Actually engage in it! Rather than go through the motions i think i read someones response. Actually look at your scout and micro it around. look for stuff, count scvs and drones and gas! You know, i actually dont mind loosing cos i kinda knew this was coming and building that 8 drones just lost me the game. Why did i do that if i knew it was coming. Beats the fuck outta me!
as a little thing for yourself, play 3 games and dont build anything but queens and static defence with only 12 lings max for scouting. read the game and then see just how much cash you have and time! its marvellous when you take most of the game away and focus on one thing with limited shit. Of course youll never win a game doing this but what if you just built 30 larva worth of lings right now with +2???? You see you clearly have the time and in most cases would win you the game. why cant we do this when we are playing normally though? food for thought, well at least this is what i find. i spend so much time looking at supply and going well i should be doing xyz right about now, only seeing after ive done all this shit 100 sup of an army is outside my base which i didnt see and i have 6 larva!
Im going to start replay analysing some of my games in this league really looking at finding a way to drill the problems ive got. we all know injects can be better, not getting sup capped and having an econ . . but how can we actually practice?
i will work something out for the 3 poeple who might actally read this. to them i may one day be called a legend .

Im not sure if it was this site (but then again i dont post anywhere else)i posted about a mass ling all in (i assume) and got modded, banned and thing igot slated saying it was easy to defend, im a nub and all the rest and the posters said that i should have no problem with it.
I dont if i tech blind. but this is whats happening ever game to me atm zvz
however last night i watched Destiny and idra play they all came across this and simply left the game. Destiny in better style Bmed everyone who did it! they came across it 3 or 4 times as well.
So. if anyone with manner is reading this. what do you do? what do you tech for. so far my solutions are as follows
1. 15 hatch get 2 queens blocking the ramp asap and spine near the queens to all 3 of you can attack the flux. make lings when you see this shit leaving his base.
2. 14gas/14pool/15 or 21 hatch (depends on ur play style) @100gas get speed, next 50 get baneNest then put 2 banes in ur nat 2 at the top of ur ramp and another 2 forward or in the main
3. 10pool with intent to cause damage ruins this as they usually go 14/14 with this build, get banes as soon as for follow up.
these builds work. if you insist on 15 hatch then method 1 really is touch and go, you really are mineral starved untill the drones kick in . . but then its all urs after that. When this push fails they almost always go into mutas! you however have the econ to spore and get hydras or even ur own mutas
