SoOoOoOo, a lot has been going on lately, so I thought I'd hit the blog section with some funk. Here are my thoughts on a few things BroodWar / StarCraft 2 related.

The Warhound
Don't read this first part, because I'm dumb.

I really haven't played much SC2, but from what I heard, Terrans were struggling during the pre-HotS-beta-era, especially against Zerg players. My game-logic acquired from playing BroodWar gave me a theory about the alleged imbalance. If Zerg players can deflect the Terran players from doing a cheese, or "early game aggression", then there's not much in the way of Zerg players being able to take certain risks and being greedy if they see the Terran is going for a fast expansion. This means that during the early-to-mid-game, the Terran player must send out groups of low-tier units to prevent the Zerg from expanding all over the place. As the game progresses, the Terran has to invest more resources into an almost-exclusively infantry army for the mid-game, while the Zerg can tech up quickly after establishing an economy.
In the late game, if the Terran hasn't executed enough damage during the early or mid game stages, then their higher-tier units won't be out in sufficient numbers to counter-act the Zerg's larger number of higher-tier units. I thought perhaps going mech or heavy air *might* be basic game plans that could change the "meta-game", but against a greedy Zerg player, there might not be a timing window from which the Terran could do a timing attack, and turtling across the map to grab expansions would basically relegate the remainder of the map for the Zerg player to expand wildly on.
I feel like the Warhound, in theory, should've been tailored to give the Terran player more options (Even though Terran technically had a lot of options to begin with) at different stages of the game, but it was soooooo ridiculously overpowered that Blizzard removed it entirely. There was literally no reason not to go mass Warhounds.
I feel like that game is still going to go through more balance crisis issues, but I really feel bad for the Warhound designers. They stayed up late, working 18 hours a day to put a Warhound on the desk of their Blizzard overlords. "Sorry honey," one of the designers would say to his lonely wife over the telephone, "I can't come to Ally's soccer practice tomorrow. I have to get this Warhound done." and they probably got divorced. All his hard work, dashed on the rocks. Now he's in a bar getting really drunk and saying, "I used to have it all; gorgeous wife and daughter, and I was a top programmer at a major software company... now I have nothing..." before the fat Italian Bartender, who wipes down the counter with a towel says, "Alright, Mr. Jones, you need to get out of here. It's closing time. Don't make me have to throw you out again."

I've never been a fan of political-correctness, so I'll just be blunt here. Some people have asked me if I'm going to host a second season. I don't know.
I've definitely made a lot of mistakes during the course of this league, and obviously, the buck stops with me, since I'm the organizer. However, my primary sponsor and I have had creative differences about the direction of the league. I almost feel like a lot of my actions were kind of micro-managed, which is frustrating when I have an idea, and someone says "No, you can't do it that way."
We haven't had some horrible behind-the-scenes drama where we cuss at each other, we've actually had totally rational adult conversations. I like the sponsor, and I want to finish the season and give him something he can be proud of, even if he doesn't want to put his name on it. For the second season, I don't know if I'm the right person for the job if I can't have creative control over the tournament. I would really hate to see the tournament end up being run by Eywa- or merged with an event run by someone who works closely with Eywa- on tournaments though.
That being said, I want to do the absolute best first season that I can. Hunting for a caster was like one of the first things I had to do. Pucca wasn't my first choice, but I'm glad I got him to do the cast. I watched some of his earlier work on casting BroodWar prior to the YSL, and I wasn't very impressed. Later, while caster-hunting, I saw his more recent stuff, and he had made some big improvements. This kind of told me that he had the drive. He wasn't just another caster who opens a twitch account and goes "Well, I see a spire, so Zerg is possibly going mutalisks" or something stupid like that. Pucca is actually really dedicated to improving, and more importantly, he can talk. The first cast was the ro32, and it was a nail-biter for me, because I was wondering how he would hold up casting 16 bo3 series', but I was delightfully surprised that not only did he get through the whole thing, but kept the thing really fun and his game knowledge had improved dramatically. Epic win for him.

GGzerG vs Randomko_Orean
I guess I'm going to get to make the GM post for this super-fight that will happen on Saturday (or possibly Sunday) and of course, if I'm going to do it, it's going to be motherfucking outrageous, but with fairness to both players, because I have a lot of respect for both of them. I actually used to not like Telecom when he was on US East, but we never really knew each other back then. It wasn't till after Clan X17 closed down that he came back from SC2 to stream BroodWar, and was like "Okay, he's cool." because when he talked, it was pretty clear that the online persona didn't really reflect who he was in real life.
I think they're both awesome, so I can't really pick a favorite to win. GGzerG was in the YSL, so I was able to watch his replays, and some of the games he plays decent, whereas others, not so much. Apparently, RK is also kind of rusty as well, and has suspended his "I will try your ideas on iccup" thing for awhile because he says he doesn't feel like he's at the level to be able to do some of the strategies. I actually took one of the strategies from the original post of his and still sometimes use it, because it works.
Female BroodWar Tournament
I still have hope of making this happen. The only factor standing in the way is a lack of players. I messaged a few more players, so hopefully, I can get eight, and then the show's on the road! I just hope that the players I've already contacted will still be up to play, and that I can (possibly) pick a date where everyone can play. Tesla, ZombieGrub, Hazelynut, Nymphaceae, LivinPink (yes, really), and Justmeagain could all potentially be part of the showdown. Ghettolyn from US East politely declined to play, as well as a few others. I recently saw posts from Kade (MiA-X17 I believe) and SarahBW on TL, so I dispatched my messenger doves to send them invites.
If I can only get 7, I can always invite Hot_Bid.
If you're interested, or know someone who might be interested, let me know! Remember, you don't have to be "good". It's just for fun, and I think everyone will enjoy it a lot.

Apparently recall doesn't destroy hallucinated shuttles, which I find to be outrageous, because most other spells destroy hallus immediately. But you can still infest a CC with a hallucination of a queen. Wait, that has nothing to do with the blog.

Quails says she play if the dates permit her to play, so how many do u have atm and do u have a date set in mind? (format, map pool?)

Why don't you organize a couple showmatches instead of a tournament? I think you could get more games like that and it would be fun to watch anyway.

I don't really have a date set in mind yet. A lot of the other girls said the same thing, which I understand - I can only play on certain days and times too. I want to get back with everybody and see when the best time is.
