Now, some of you might wonder: Why interview such an un-known player? The answer: Because I wanted to.
Some backstory here: I signed up for a Playhem EU daily back in the day (because White-Ra was playing ) and met Indy in the first round. As was to be expected, I got horribly demolished, but had a nice chat with Indy during the game. He was helpful, suggested ways for me to improve my play & was generally just a nice guy. So when I noticed that he had reached GM as well as switched teams, I approached him and asked for an interview. He was really excited for it, so we just conducted it ^^
With that out of the way, I'd like to review the interview (oh my, I am so witty) . Due to the lack of feedback, I'll just state my own thoughts about this. You guys are, of course, free to add in any pointers & such.
What did I want to improve on from the previous interview?
1. More fun questions
2. Less questions-in-questions
3. Better preparation
How did I do?
1. I think they questions & answers were, in general, more cheerful than the last interview. So I'd say that this one was good. It was fun to do, and fun to write, so the "Make it fun" aspect was fulfilled in my eyes.
2. A lot less questions-in-questions, and those who were there were needed, in my opinion. This one was good as well. This could also have been due to the fact that we did this "live", a k a through a Skype conversation. This helped me quite a bit, as I could just add follow-up questions if they were needed.
3. I prepared pretty well, but you can't ever prepare for everything that happens during an interview. Luckily, nothing interrupted my and Indy's little chat, and it went pretty smoothly. Another success!
Was there something I need to fix?
The main thing I noticed was that I lacked a smooth transition between questions, a red thread to carry on with the conversation. Other than that, I didn't really notice anything that needed to be fixed.
So how do I fix it?
My idea is to make sure that the question tie in with one another, or at least make some of them do that, and connect them to make a bridge towards another section of the interview. It's tough, since the questions often are so different, but I'll give it my best shot!
Fun fact: Doing interviews like this (via Skype) actually takes quite a lot of time. The ones I've done so far (only two, but still) have both taken over an hour. It was time well spent, though
