They really need to put some sort of identifier in there. Maybe make it PROgaming...or change it entirely to video game pro. I am constantly seeing "progaming" thinking oh sweet they are programmers just like me! But actually not.
The first "new" item I can remember my dad buying for us (my sister and I) growing up was the top loading NES. Ever since then I've been balancing video games with the other parts of my life. Managing having a social life, school work, sports, job etc, and then figuring out how I could work in gaming. I've never really wanted gaming to be something I did for a living, not that I even have the ability to do that if I wanted. Nowadays though I go into work 5 days a week, plenty of a career to support whatever my heart desires in the game realm, and whether I'm watching or playing I still always have respect for the dedication that these progamers put into their craft (no pun intended). It takes a lot of time and dedication to get so good at something that people consider you among the best.
While I think that would personally ruin the enjoyment aspect of gaming for me, it could just be that I tell myself that since I know I would fall so painfully short of their ability...

A fellow progRammer! Who are you working for? I'm looking to go to university next year for computer science.

Programming is fun and progamers only exist because of programmers!

I'm a programmer too, and yeah isn't it crazy EVERY time I see the word "progamer" I see "programmer". I'm going to hyphenate from now on to pro-gamer. Maybe just type professional gamer.
@BlackSheep142 Good luck with computer science. I loved everything about it except group projects... haha.

I am really wanting to get into Programming, how hard is Computer Science? I think I will enjoy it but the math makes me not want to go anywhere near it.

Haha I'm a progamer and on my lease agreement the girl filled in my occupation as "programmer -teaches people software and gaming stuff". I don't think she understood anything of what I explained to her lol. I couldn't be bothered correcting her figured it sounds more legitimate anyway

To me the math in computer science is a lot more interesting than pure math, as it had much more applicability to me.
Also the math is much more algorithmic, its more like learning how to solve puzzles rather than making calculations.
Have a look at Big O Notation, Lambda Calculus, Data Structures (BTree/Hash, etc), Sorting Algorithms (Bubble Sort, Radex Sort, Quick Sort). That's the kind of math you will be doing. Its not really "Math math".

I would say that it really depends on what you want to do. Things like AI, Graphics and Physics Engines require a good knowledge of math. For example, if you want to do low level graphics engine stuff you would need to be very proficient with linear algebra (I'm not talking x+y=9, you would need to know matrices, vectors, quaternions and such very well) and trigonometry, although if you're working at a game dev company as a higher level programmer I doubt you would need to know much about the inner implementation of the graphics engine. So it all depends on what you want to do.

I do both gaming and programming in my free time.
