I'm spending the summer in Germany b/c I have an internship, so I went ahead and got an EU account. On NA I'm a recently promoted Masters Zerg player; on EU i'm sitting pretty solidly mid-diamond. Not saying EU is necessarily harder; could just be that I got inexplicably worse somehow. Or maybe stylistic differences in the metagame are to blame. Seems like there are a lot more banshees over here. Maybe they're produced by BMW or something.
At any rate, I've been playing 6 to 12 games a day, and a few of them wound up being good enough (or funny enough) that I started setting the replays aside. The replay pack I am posting here contains 10 games that stood out to me for one reason or another. Although it is possible that no one is interested, I would appreciate some feedback on my play.
Weaknesses I am currently aware of (just to make clear that I recognize how much room I have to improve): - bad macro - bad micro - horrible understanding of timings (this is an area I would love some help on) - forgetting tech. durrr
This isn't a [H] thread because I can generally figure out why I lost in a given game by looking at the replay. 10 out of 12 of these games are wins anyway. However, they do show me playing at more or less my best — and I'd appreciate feedback of any kind on that.
I've got a lot of down time this summer, and I'm using it to try and get into shape for CSL in the fall
My other hope with this replay pack is that it might provide some guidance for lower-level players, and to that effect I will be making myself available in this thread to anybody in gold or lower who wants to know why I do something in one of these games, or wants to know when a given strategy works, or whatever else. Sometimes (perhaps often) the answer to "why did I do X" will be "because I'm a shit player," but maybe there's some stuff I can help you with too.
Here's the link to the replay pack:

3/10 ZvT 2/10 ZvP 5/10 ZvZ (sorry, but I seem to roll that about 75% of the time XD)

Here's the link to the replay pack: http://drop.sc/packs/10783/10 ZvT 2/10 ZvP 5/10 ZvZ (sorry, but I seem to roll that about 75% of the time XD) Eu is currently about 40% zergs in high leagues, with exception of gm, where there are zergs, tosses and kas/happy/beasty. So, I guess that explains why you roll zergs about 75% of the time. As a terran masters on EU, I can tell you something for sure: compared to my normal zerg (masters) opponents, you lack in many areas. I watched only the vs T reps.
Here they are:
Map awarenes (spread those overlords better) You had only two or three spread around the map in ohana, for example. If terran took the path from 3, you would know maybe a bit late.
Some decision making (early hive is great), but you start spire after it finishes. With the excessive amount of resources you were floating (not floating, but banking, i know zerg is 'special'), you could have started two spires.
Creep spread -> was decent but man, if I was you, I would have entered his base with creep by now. Use your queens, they float too much energy, and there was no harrass from the terran to excuse you (on ohana).
Reaction time. You had 100 lings hold a watch tower against a marauder. They killed him which was fine. Then 30 marines and medivacs came, killed ALL the lings, you did not even look there. Unless you wanted those lings dead, which is CRAZY, cause next thing I see, you produce 72 lings, I just can't understand how it can take you 4 seconds to pull your lings out.
For some reason, your hatches had little to zero queens to inject stuff. I know in NA things might be different, but in EU, zergs like to use injects into hatcheries.
When the terran army was at your door, you forgot all about injects, about everything, started frantically making lings? You had larvae (not much, cause you were not injecting, but still you had a lot of hatches) you had money, why would you make lings? Make more infestors and ultras...
Both you and the terran were totally terrible, and imo don't deserve to be even diamond, maybe high platinum, but I don't meet much dia, so I might have forgotten how bad dia players were.
Anyway, good luck improving, and enjoy your stay in Europe.
