The day started like a usual crappy day, you wake up, late for work because you slept over. Your hair is a mess, you feel hungover because you slept 3-4 hours instead of the usual 6-8, and all because I bought a new game, and as poor as I am to prioritize. I buy it 22:30 just so I can "check it out" before I have to sleep.
Couple of hours later, I realize I have to go to bed, and I do. Just to be awaken by my boss telling me to hurry up and get to work. (my dad)
I then get dressed with the first thing I see, which is a black hoodie, with some grey sweatpants just to close the deal.
Get in the car, rush off to work. And by rushing I don't mean driving like a madman. I drive after the conditions. always have, always will. Hopefully.
Then there comes a straight road with nothing but river on one side and a cornfield on the other.
Without thinking I slowly put on some more gas so I'm up to 90 Km/h (about 57 miles per hour)
One of the reasons I drove that fast was that until late february, the speed limit at that road, was 80km/h. And I usually drive -+10 of the speed limit. by habit, not a rush.
Suddenly there's a woman in a reflex west waving me in a line with some other cars.
I panicked, the cars in front of me had seen the woman and slowed down appropriately, so only a few of them got a speeding ticket. The guy in front of me is driving a audi a6 coupe probably worth 3-4 of my year salary, he gets a speeding ticket for driving 25km/h to fast to a total of 85km/h. at first he yelled at the woman not knowing this was a police officer, the police officer said calm down or we charge you with obstruction of justice. And he was quiet.
But all I could think of was, Shit! He was driving 25km/h to fast, and was driving in total 85km/h. And slowed down beforehand. I didnt, how damn fast was I driving!?
When she was done calming the idiot in front of me down, coming towards me. She looked tired and mad.
She asked me the usual questions, license and registration please. I gave it while asking if she was okay. she looked at me and then looked at my license not saying a word.
after the uncomfortable silence she asked, do you know how fast you were going. Not knowing the answer I said that I had no idea because I was late for work and stressed.
86km/h.. Do you know what that means? I said, no I'm afraid not, but I have a idea. thinking it was a huga ass fine.
It means your license will be revoked. along with a fine of 6500kr(about 1100$)
being shocked I asked what the line was between a ticket and losing my license.
"25km/h you get a ticket for 6500kroner, 26 km/h and you also lose your license."
She then sat in my car asking routine questions and making me sign some papers.
being the nice dude i hope I am, I signed smiled when she asked me questions hoping she would give me some slack because I was 1km/h from not losing my license.
But no.. She said you can drive to work today but when you get there, you park for good. for at least 3 months. I smiled said have a good weekend and drove off.. without my precious license.
On the way to work I thought of the basic stuff you do when you lose your license.
How will I get groceries? How will I drive on vacation in 2 months and of course. I hope my dad don't kill me.
He didn't btw.
He was oddly reassuring telling me that we are a family, and if I need help to shop for groceries etc I could call him. I love my dad!
So that's the unfortunate story about how I lost my license.
One tip to all drivers out there. Drive like someone is always watching!
Peace!
