So I felt it time to force some chatter onto you.
I've been looking at the eSports movement for the past few months now, and before you continue, please know that this is done from South-Africa via the capable and wondrous 256Kbps line I have. So I feel that my views will significantly differ from those of you from the EU and Americas.
Baseless and boring are keywords when you are stuck in South-Africa, knowing that you will never have access to all the invigorating and exciting match ups, tournaments and the like. I believe Blizzard have far more important things to do than actually /care about South - Africa at the moment, as we do not at all boast a large enough player compliment to justify any investments. Hey, business is business.
So I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out with some informationos...
I would love to see a South - African team compete in tournaments at international level, as geological and infrastructural issues does not mean that we don't have great players, who with the right coaching will be able to compete in exciting matchups. I feel it unfair that my beloved country does not have access to such a great environment which has shown so much growth.
The eSports movement has grown exponentially over the past few years and it is already a vastly funded international event and it serves as proof that humanity is moving forward and that possibilities can be explored to no limits (When I was a kid I watched the 1995 World Cup Rugby, never in my life did I foresee that eSports would ever be coming) Our country supports rugby, cricket etc. all manners of physical sports without any doubts or regrets (Even if the initial investment cripple the economy - Think FIFA WC 2010 South Africa) But talk of eSports teams are taboo and shrugged off. Obviously from where I am sitting I do not nearly possess the required funding to initiate such a drive and I probably never will... I have been thinking of getting sponsors locally and laying out a great big old plan to them to help my fellow gamers get on the map. I for one am not nearly near the competitive level (Bronzer, oh no! get the mace) but I do feel that I have enough knowledge of the game and that I would be able to assist in some degree.
But I do strongly feel that there is room for a few of my fellow countrymen to "gooi" a few games at international level with the greats. The problem is that I have not a clue of how to start such a process and if Blizzard or whomever the people are I need to talk to would actually agree to such an arrangement at all. <<Insert emo meme here>>
I implore you to please share any information you have as I carry this close at heart.
Thanks once again for reading.
