I just can't beat SC2 ZvT mech play. It can be hellion thor it can be siege tank thor hellion, whatever. It goes as ridiculous as guy decides to fuck hellions and goes pure tank thor viking and rolls my maxed roach infestor with 25 viking in the air. And I know it all comes down to economy, upgrades, injects, roach drops on tanks and hopefully fast hive. I just screw it up every game. I can kill 10-20 scvs or even his Orbital before 10th minute and it still all goes to fuck itself as roaches melt down to thor tank fire, hellions are irrevelant, infestors dont have neural for thors or shit dies too fast to even cast neural. It's even better if I don't know the guy is going mech and I mass muta ling and it just melts and changes to burned, bloody scraps.

Normally when for whatever reason I don't want to ladder (like after a huge, disturbing and hurting loses) I just play Desert Strike 1338, played it 620 times so far and I consider myself good at it.

Brood Lord/Infestor + other unit of your choosing. Yes, it beats mech.
Thor tank hellion kills other unit of your choosing, vikings handle broods. I know you want to help me but it doesn't change the fact the shit is hard to play.
Try roach dropping his production structures, then chipping away at his army. Mass thor/hellion? Tons of roaches + ups. Mass tank/thor/hellion? Brood/corruptor/infestor/roach. The broods will force tanks to unseige; you should have infestors/corruptors nearby to deal with vikings. Just tank/hellion/viking? Drop roaches on his tanks; vikings won't be able to kill the OLs fast enough.
Also as a basic thing, always pre-arc your army to get the best surround possible on tanks. It makes a huge difference.
Mech needs Thors, Tanks, Hellions and then later vikings for the broodlords. - Less Thors means make mutas - Less tanks means make roaches - Less hellions means make lings - Less vikings means make broodlords
That is until you get super late game, in which case you want mass infestor, broodlord, spines. Maybe nydus with lings/ roaches for counter attacks to get the mech army out of possition

Mech is easy. If you play your cards right, he'll never leave his 2-3 bases and get pummeled to death from repeated roach/BL waves. Just backstab, flank, harass and multiprong your way to ladder points! Basically just avoid his army like the plague until you know you can swamp him.

Adding to this point. Mech is simply shit until it gets a critical mass (imagine only 3 tanks + 5 hellions pushing towards you). Once your realize he's going mech (seeing 2+ facts and 1 rax without addon/lack of marines, mass BFHs) get 3/4 base asap and start mass droning. He can't do any serious push until he gets that critical mass, so his only way of dealing damage at this point is with BFH which you can easily stop with a few roaches near your mineral lines. Afterwards, just mass an army (mass roac/roach infestor/roach infestor BL, depending on his timing) and roll him due to your superior econ and production.

Thank you Yeah I need to work on my scouting a bit more. I've got a very strong roach push that I started using after I was inspired by 7 roach pressure build but sometimes it doesn't see enough.
Odds are your unit composition isn't the problem. So ignore all the responses to this thread if you actually want to get better. Instead focus on your expansion timing, hive timing, army positioning, attack paths, and choice of engagements.
Either attempt to take an early 3rd once u sense mech play if he doesnt attempt to contain you with hellions, or tech quickly to 2 base mutas and use them to harrass terran and abuse mech's immobility. Also use mutas to try to delay the 3rd for as long as possible and ensure he never leaves his base. Roach drops can work as well but it requires greater multitasking. Snipe addons, upgrades, anything you can get. Meanwhile get to 4 bases and once you've accomplished that, head towards hive and on 8 gases you can continually pump broodlord/infestor/roach and crush your opponent with your superior eco.
At platinum level it's not so much a matter of strategy but rather execution. You can win with a silly unit composition, it's just a matter of mechanics/multitasking/fundamentals.
Watch game 2 of Violet vs Demuslim from the Lone Star Clash last weekend. It was a perfect example of how to crush TvZ mech. Demuslim's TvZ mech is amazing, he beat Nestea with it just a few weeks ago. But Violet dominated it from start to finish in very convincing fashion.
Holy shit O_O but still those were just alone Thors, no hellions or tanks in sight. I know that banes are very good vs hellions that stand still or are trapped between my roaches and the rest of my opponents army... hmm maybe I'll try it if I get too many lings and won't want to waste them on hellions.

I think I'll go with roach drops, mutas die too easily to thors, I can't focus anything because they clump and get smashed by splash... hmm magic boxing could work, well next time I don't know it's mech and make mutas instead of roaches and infestors I'll try more magic boxing. Yeah superior eco is the thing I need.

rush for lair and pump 10 mutas to force thors and keep him on 2 base. then go for 80 drones and while teching to roach infestor. as soon as he move out of his base, doom drop into his main. even use nydus'
Whenever I mech I always end up getting destroyed by burrow move roaches...Such a pain. I am surprised I don't either see lots of drops by Zerg, or burrow-move roaches against mech at higher levels. You hardly ever see Ravens in a mech composition and hiding your burrow move tech is so devastating.
