I will be leaving for Kansas tomorrow morning to go to my grandma's house for a vacation for a week... and *gasp* she does not have internet. Also she lives in the middle of nowhere so no stealing internets from neighbors I already have someone who's going to prepare a spoiler-free schedule for me for keeping up with the starcrafts. However what I'm struggling with right now is what to do on the road / while I'm in Kansas as I'm usually very bored.
Something to keep in mind is that I will only be bringing my ASUS netbook that has: Windows 7 Starter Intel Atom CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz w/ 1 GB of RAM and no CD Drive Needless to say this is not a top of the line computer but it's not feasible to take my desktop with me.
What I've prepared so far: Brood War (I've never really played BW other than UMS but since offline only single player would be available) Pokémon ROMs (haven't played pokémon in forever but figured it might be fun)
I'm looking for more options of games that are fun that can be played offline and on this crappy netbook. Any help is super awesomely appreciated.

daiblo 1 & 2 (with the single player mods especially, make it so nice having infinite stash room!) are fantastic rollercoaster tycoon is always entertaining fallout 1 & 2 are classics Simcity 3000 was unexplainably entertaining for me.
And you could also just get a snes/ps1 emulator for games like chrono trigger, megaman x & x-2, super metroid, etc etc.
gl hf exploring the true purpose of netbooks lol
edit: if you haven't read Song of Ice and Fire, do that instead of what I posted.

I played the shit outta that game and not sure if offline would be the same. SNES Emulator for other games is a good idea... that's quite alot of hours of fun if i find the right game

I Love Civ IV but I'm thinking too much for this poor computer... I've had it crash on Minecraft quite a few times. Quite a few have mentioned baldur's gate... a game i've never played.

Morrowind runs on my similarly shitty netbook although not at a very high fps.

Assuming that you are bringing some type of ds emulator to play Pokemon, I can really recommend Phoenix Wright. It's especially fun if your emulator can pick up sound from your mic.
|
Age of Wonders (the original) is turn-based and quite cute.

regarded as one of the best games ever made: XCOM UFO Defense

Baldurs Gate (+ 2) Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Whichever FFs you prefer Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Diablo 2

I'm in a similar situation as you are (although hopefully I should be able to get a new laptop soon), although I do have internet. Still, as someone mentioned, get yourself some ol' school RPGs (Baldur's gate, Darklands, Icewind Dale, etc), get BW, WC3 (should run on that comp, it's not heavy on reqs), etc
Some turn-based games might be really cool to get as well: Civilization, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (probably one of the best, used to play it with a bunch of friends all the time), Age of Wonders (pretty darn good)...
