People always ask, how do we get eSports out to a wider audience? Well
http://i.imgur.com/WT28x.jpg
This is currently in place outside Newcastle United FC stadium. Nah, it really doesn't do anything for eSports but I can't imagine Nazgul minds having his logo a few foot high outside one of the biggest football stadiums in the UK XD
The story behind this is the King of the Web contest, which I won a couple of months back. They decided to get a billboard to advertise their site and put it in my home town.
That's it really, just thought I'd share.

Wear that crown to the next tournament you're casting!

Really awesome! Too bad know one will know what the logo means. Congrats though! ^_^
|
Any more panoramic shots? To see the billboard and a bit more of the surrounding area. Are they the ones right opposite the entrance to Shearers?

Lol that was my thought too. A lot of people are also going to be wondering what a "TotalBiscuit" is...
Also, I hope you got permission from TL before doing this. Whatever the intent you can't go around using other peoples trademarked logos without their concent...

"Zebralightning Studios" has since changed their logo.
Of course TL has copywrites, you know Hot_Bid is a lawyer, right? Haven't you ever looked at the bottom of the page: "The contents of this webpage are copyright © 2002-2012 Teamliquid.net. All Rights Reserved"
I don't know what the situation is here, but if this wasn't cleared with TL this King of the Web company did something stupid. A lot of times companies will go after people over stuff like this simply because if you don't it can hurt your chances of defending your copywrites or trademarks against future illegal usage.
-edit: apparently this was cleared with Nazgul?

TheToast are you Romanian by chance ?
Good job TB, shame you aren't showing off like you were at Assembly though

You realise that virtually every website has that disclaimer? In fact most stock website designs come with it there and you just change the name to yours...... even those without any legit copyright, including my sites lol. I'm sure TL (being a registered company) has copyrighted their logo, web code and whatever else they need to but that little disclaimer at the bottom of the site means jack shit...
Anywho, nice one TB.... shame it couldn't be up in a real city like London ;p

Fantastic publicity. Anyone who is crying copyright foul needs their head testing - no company would start a legal row (or even an argument) over such good publicity. In fact most companies pay through the nose for billboard exposure like that. If TB was shown spitting on the logo or something it'd be a different matter, but clearly that's not the case.
Great job on this TB. Great to see someone making such efforts to expand the UK scene - really glad we have you as an ambassador of sorts!

Damn, Nazgul's posts really stick out. friggin Witch King helmet even cuts into the above poster's sig.

Well obviously TL approves of your usage so this is a pointless disscussion. But since you brought it up, and I have a love of pointless discussion, I was led to click on that link and come across the following:
If you have a photo that happens to include the Coca Cola logo, (or any trademarked item), the question as to whether a release is required has nothing to do with your having the image, nor your ability to license the image; but rather, how the person who buys the image puts it into use. If that use implies an association, or relies upon the good will of the logo, then a release may be required or desired. But that decision is made by the licensee, not the photographer.
This is actually kind of interesting, the whole thing swings on the usage of the photograph and whether an argument can be made as to whether the logo is promoting whatever the photo is being used for.

Good job TB, shame you aren't showing off like you were at Assembly though lol what? Because you seem to be incapable of utilizing common sense or sarcasm, to put it bluntly.
I'm pretty sure those T-shirs are sold with the intent of people showing off while wearing them, multiple hosts were seen wearing that and other shirts while casting on camera. Did they ever ask anyone ? Also Nazgul's posts was poking fun at you for looking for problems in an entirely harmless thing.

An awesome post about an awesome billboard marred by TL internet lawyers and copyright issues. Of course. Stay classy TL. Stay classy.

Glad to hear you have such a respectful opinion on Romanians.
Also, why would I know anything about the shirts? All I said is that he might need permission from TL, and if you are correct and the shirts were given out specifically for casters to promote TL then there wouldn't be a problem. But since I don't closely watch the TL caster shirt promotion news everynight, I don't know anything about this. I'm so very sorry my information on this clearly pressing issue of paramount esports importance is unsatisfactory. -.-

No, they are sold in TL store, you can buy it yourself and put your photo on a giant billboard too!
|
Haha wow, that's awesome. I had no idea you were a Geordie though!:O

lol at people talking about copyright, sorry but It's just too funny.
Nice billboard :x 5stars

Ahaha this is awesome.
Way to go TB

On a normal day, TB looks like an average middle aged man. But on other days, he just looks like the most badass person on the planet. This picture is one of them.
I wonder how many people will mistake the TL logo for something else.
|
Nicely done TB, very cool
|
It's a shame that we haven't yet figured out a way to combine a crown with a top hat. It would be far more suitable.
|
That is one kick-ass Billboard! Congratulations TotalBiscuit.
|
Great stuff, and great location for an ad too, well done on winning the contest TB!
|
|
Pure awesome. The would-be lawers make this thread even funnier ^^.

Congrats on the Billboard! Props on the sick venue!
