Susie and I at Christmas.
In about three weeks, I'll be leaving South Korea. I've been living here as a teacher (and also a part-time volunteer journalist) for about five years. When I got here I had no idea SC even existed, but it managed to color three years of my life with unique experiences.
Things I'm Going to Miss:
~ Getting involved in the eSports scene. (Even though I've been retired for over a year.) ~ The food. ~ (Some of) the weather. ~ The clean, cheap and efficient public transport. ~ Easy access for buying Japanese items. ~ Comic World ;_; ~ The shopping experiences. (I'll miss the bookstores the most!) ~ My job.
Things I'm Happy to Say Goodbye to:
~ The coldest and hottest extremes of the year. ~ The drinking culture. (It's just not my thing.) ~ Those smelly llava things sold on the street food stalls. ~ The language barrier.
Anyway, this blog is just to say thank you to everyone who has given me the chance to have such amazing experiences in Korea. To Susie (who was there for me when I really needed a friend.) and all the other people I've met here along the way. Also to all the coaches, managers and team players who've allowed me to report for TL.net. Special thanks to FBH for being my first photo shoot victim. (I know they haven't got the best rep here, but I also want to thank Kespa for all their help, and for making sure I always had an escort home after those after-finals dinner parties.)
Thanks for putting up with my cruddy Korean, Boxer.
Finally, thanks for giving me a sense of purpose everyone who commented on my photos, videos, or just enjoyed my work. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in with the various projects for Backho, Jaedong, and Violet. I probably won't be posting much any more now I don't have anything to share, but I'll pop in from time to time.
Thank you again and bye for now :D
(TLDR; For SC2 only people - I used to be a Korean scene BW photographer/journalist who spent her weekends making progamers do crazy photo shoots. I'm leaving SK soon, and this is to say thanks.)
P.S. All my photos are free for TL.net users to use (for graphics/school projects etc.) As long as I'm credited as the photographer then it's alright not to ask for my permission in the future

I'm going back home to live with my Mum until I find a job. You're welcome

Hi NeverGG. I am a long time fan of all the great content you have provided to the site during your stay in Korea. I remember thinking to myself in the past "It seems like there isn't a high quality picture of any progamers on TL that don't have a NeverGG watermark." Thank you also for your fan projects.
Good luck wherever you get to next.

thanks for everything. back in 2008 when i started following broodwar and registered on TL, your esports photos were simply the best around.

Thanks, it was lovely to meet you too. I decided to go home because my Mum recently had surgery on her leg, and I want to make sure she has me helping her until it's completely healed. I'm not sure what I'll do once I get back, but I want to find a job asap. (I just have no idea what that job will be -_-; )

We'll miss your contributions. Thanks for all you've done for the scene. Good luck to you in your future endeavors :D.

I loved your photoshoots (especially those silly Canata ones) and the Canata/Violet Fan Cafes. Thank you for all the content that you've produced. Good luck to your future endeavors!

Those smelly llava things sold on the street food stalls.

Your photoshoots were excellent, and I have a ton of your images (BW ones, at least) saved on my HD. Best wishes!

Best of luck NeverGG! I was always a fan of your photography, especially the ones involved in the eSports scene.
The food is definitely one thing I missed the most when I left Korea. Can't get over it...

Thanks for all the great photos you posted here. Ill miss the old glory days of BW and youre truly a part of that. Thank you for giving us all a great time.

I'm pretty new here but every day in the BW threads your photos seem to pop up and they are all so very very handsome/epic.
Good luck NeverGG! Thank you for everything!
Also, is that the first photo of yourself on TL ever?

NeverGG, you never got enough credit where it was due for all the content and updates you provided. Thank you for all that you did while you were in S.Korea and I hope all goes well on the trip home and starting a new life back home.
|
Aw D: You're leaving? Any intention of going back or are you starting a new chapter in your life back home?
|
I haven't followed BW much, but I've certainly seen your photos and contributions around. It's a shame your leaving, but it's for a good cause and I hope your mum gets better soon. Hope you find a job that's just as rewarding as your experiences in korea have been.

Yeah those things are freaking weird. My friend kept trying to get me to try them, but there was no way I could even stomach the thought.
Good luck! I'll never forget the awesome day we spent hanging out. I had the photo you took of Stork and me printed out, and it's on my desk now
