I feel like I need to point out my major weaknesses in my play, If only just to see it myself.
My main problem with a match up is vs zerg. I'm terran btw. I have never been any good vs zerg. Even back when terran was much more powerful ( even op? ) it was my weakest match up. It stems mostly from the unpredictability of the larva. With the other races I have a much easier time "reading" my opponent's options and capability. Vs zerg I feel like I can move out to attack and either he was making drones and I might do some damage or he, for what ever reason, made a million lings and I just die right away. I just don't really understand the match up. I actually find it much easier to beat zerg as toss than as terran and I have only played like 50 1v1 games as toss in 2 years.
My macro still suffers most of the time. Watching my replays I see I have buildings not producing anything for way too long. I tend to get like 1 or 2 too many barracks on 2 base and end up with no minerals and a lot of unused gas. It's something I need to practice vs computer. I'm going to try and spend a day just getting to 200/200 with a certain composition to really drill my macro.
The vs zerg problem is really my bottleneck for moving up in masters. I usually top out in mid masters. I hit a lot of zergs, get really discouraged and my mentality causes me to start playing awful. I feel strongest vs Toss unless they do a nexus first or 1 gate nexus. I always feel I have to pull everything and stop it. The idea that I can see someone just make an expo without getting units and I can't stop it is just ridiculous to me. I guess the best Idea is to just throw down an expo myself
but I'm usually trying to tech to banshee feel it's probably best to try and do damage with it.
Another problem is generally just not having anyone to practice with. I don't really know anyone one who plays above the gold level. I've tried to find practice partners but usually they either beat you a lot and feel you're not good enough to practice with, or you beat them a lot and they get frustrated and stop playing. But in the end I feel I need to work out my macro issues before I focus to much on just playing mass games with a practice partner.
I'm really interested to see how the expansion with change the dynamics of the game. I does kinda suck that the game won't really be "done" until after the second expansion. At which point we won't have anymore resets and things can really be refined down to the max. But I'll be about 30 at that time and who knows if I'll still play.
Still love the game even if it has taken me a long time to learn how to not get too frustrated with it.
