EPTThere are positiv and negative aspects of this growth in customisation of streams.
Peoples mindset on overlays is that whatever they manage to scratch together in 5 minutes will make their stream more interesting and will grab peoples attention when it's usually the other way around.
In reality most of peoples stream overlays are just a big pile of cluster fuck which annoys the crap out of me. People usually just put down text and boxes everywhere at the screen and thinks it looks awesome when it actually looks horrible and makes the people watching annoyed/confused.
Most of the overlays streamers use are awful but whenever i see a streamer who manages to apply good overlays to their stream it becomes (atleast for me) refreshing and more interesting.
Because if you manage to make a good overlay it will make people remember your stream so much easier and you may even get a follower because of it.
So to make a following conclusion:
If you want to have a overlay for your stream you must have a somewhat basic idea of how you want it to look and have some knowledge within whatever editing program you use or you know someone who can make it for you.
If you have no idea or knowledge don't make a overlay just because others have it. It will most likely scare your viewers more then make them stay
As to put a end to this blogpost I was bored today after coming home from school so i decided to make my own overlay for my stream!
After 1hour this came out of from my ideas

So my basic idea while making this overlay was was to use as little colours as possible while keeping it simple and clean at the sametime.
I tried to make my own version of the "Master league" logo and even though im not fully satisfied with the outcome it passed my requirements atleast :p
The 2 boxes in the middle are ofcourse for the players screen and webcam.
Even though i don't have a webcam at the moment i thought it was a good idea to make one for it anyway as i may get one later on this year.
It may not represent my vision to my fullest extent im still satisifed by the end result!
