After the fiasco with Dragon leaving slayers, I've noticed that he's been leveling accounts up for money. I'm not quite sure if other professional players do this as well, but I feel incredibly against this.
Just recently on his stream a rank 7 diamond player was forced to play Dragon. He stream sniped Dragon, and then BM'ed Dragon until the end of the game. Dragon continuously taunted him, starting the game off by going 3 nexus. I had hoped that the chat would be upset at Dragon, but they all went on a rant against the other player. Was it fair that he had to play Dragon? NO! It isn't fair. It only hurts your ladder play. You don't gain anything by playing Dragon, aside from being embarrassed and taunted continuously.
1) What dragon is doing is ILLEGAL. 2) Dragon was caught cheating before slayers, so how can anyone be mad at anyone that BM's him. 3) It isn't fair to be sub masters and have to play against Dragon because you will lose over and over.
It's as if an MLB player was playing with a bunch of little leaguers...It just isn't right, or fair. The game is supposed to be fun, but if you're being BM'd by a professional player, it is discouraging to play.
Or, when you're in an FPS game (say call of duty) and you're supposed to play against a team on your level (say your team is cevo M or O) and the other team is cevo M, but a cevo P team smurfs under a different name to make money. It's not good for starcraft, and it isn't good for any game.
I hope that Blizzard can somehow fix this issue and ban Dragon from doing this because if I had to play him I'd be upset. I want to play people at my skill level, or slightly above. You will not get better by playing him over and over. I cannot understand how Dragon fan boys can support him while he does this
Does anyone agree with me, or am I taking this too far? Am I over-analyzing this? On a side note: I get my new laptop in less than two weeks and I'll finally be able to play! It's been almost 4 months now since I've played any game!

I think you are worrying too much about what this individual is doing in his spare time. If you don't like what he's doing, don't watch his stream. There are a bajillion more to choose from.
|
He stream sniped dragon and its dragon's fault he had to play him? The hell am i reading?
|
Out of the 1000's of games you play, I dont think playing Dragon a few times will kill your rank.
And (If youre on about the person I think you are) people were getting mad at the other guy for BMing Dragon because he admitted to stream cheating him and was racist multiple times.

What if you're like me and you only get a chance to play 1 or 2 games a day...I've played maybe 500 games since sc2 came out. In that case, yes getting embarrassed and losing to Dragon wouldn't be fun.
@ the other guy It was dragons fault because he's illegally smurfing on other accounts for money
|
Most of your argument is against smurfing, not against account selling.
I dont have a problem with smurfing.
Account selling Blizzard could take action for, personally I don't care too much. Frankly you have to be an idiot to buy an account in Masters/GM. You buy an accout for literally...a season. That you probably cant even play on because if you did you'd be immediately demoted because if you were good enough to play anywhere near masters, you wouldn't be buying an account in masters. And the next season you either have to what...buy another account in masters?
|
It's just a single game. I run into people who were 2-3 leagues higher last season all the time. (they always win, not like they're much worse or something). Kind of annoying, but whatever.
I guess you can anti-streamsnipe (lol) to make sure you don't play him.
And why on earth would you pay someone else to ladder for you?

If people are stupid enough to pay money for rank, then I'm really not bothered.
Blizzards point system is good, the people paying for rank will not be able to keep playing at the level Dragon raises their account to, and will just drop back down again anyway.
It provides good entertainment on stream, and thats really all I care about.

I feel like I'm reading something from an overprotective mom. It's not a big deal, and I'm sure the guy is devastated that he got to play against a well known player.
And your points are stupid. How can anyone be mad when they BM dragon because of what he did in the past? What am I reading here? We've all made mistakes, and that doesn't mean you deserve to be treated like shit for the rest of your life because of it.
|
So someone Stream snipe dragon, then he BM him and makes racist comments? Thus, Dragon is the bad guy here? WTF, if the guy stream sniped dragon it's because he wanted to play vs him maybe? Plus, I don't know what you wanted to achieve by making this blog because obviously people don't gives a shit about ladder and it's pretty obvious that Dragon is not going to change his way of living.

I used to think it was hilarious because the people he would play were also fans of him. It's all in good fun for the most part.
I do agree it's a little shitty when the other person just wants a fair match on ladder. To be fair, people BM all the time and facing higher competition occasionally is good for you, cause it gives you more concrete examples of what you can and can't do in your builds. His BM can be really funny sometimes cause his english is so bad and he mostly just does the "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ EZ" shit.
Having said that, I stopped watching him after a while when realizing it's practically all he did. I got he intrigued at first cause he gave Nestea a run for his money in the 2nd open season, and he had some really serious practice sessions. Also his understanding/consistancy of building placement is second to none.
Vibe would agree. He said on his stream last night: "I'm going to break his little fucking fortification"-- made me lol.
|
he's a little brat, simple as that. he takes a childish joy in humiliating other people, anyone who support him ought to be ashamed..
Obviously his horde of supporters will defend him which is fine, but be a little objective.
|
I don't see anything wrong playing people with a higher skill level than you. Ladder is essentially practice games anyway. Also, Dragon handicaps by doing incredibly greedy builds.
However, I don't understand why people are paying Dragon to level up their accounts because once they log in, it's like "Oh shit, my MMR is matching me against higher skill levels." What's the point?
|
How is it illegal?
I'd love to play against him even though I would get destroyed. I think most people would want to play a streamed match against a well known player.

At first I thought it was funny, but for the past week or so it is all he does. As for "practice", I don't think you can practice against him because of timings and such, not to mention he isn't doing any "build" orders. He's just messing around, which throws off the other player. It just frustrates me that he's getting paid to do this.
I come from the FPS world, in which when this stuff happens you get banned. If you were caught smurfing etc you'd be finished.

Wait a sec, did you say that the other guy stream sniped Dragon? If he did, he got what was coming to him...
Nice logic, OP.

Nice logic, OP. More or less, as he realized he wasn't playing against the real owner of the account and it was actually Dragon he said he would stream snipe...The chat went nuts and was making fun of the guy really hardcore. The chat seemed to have forgotten that Dragon himself was caught stream sniping himself. It just all seemed hypocritical. He wouldn't have stream cheated if it had been the actual user using the account.
I wonder how many other pros/grandmaster players level accounts. I've had some games in which I'm confused..I mean I get utterly destroyed and wonder, how is he still in gold?
|
Although I don't approve of Dragon leveling accounts, it is entirely the one paying Dragon to do so that is at fault. I've thought about it for a bit and Dragon is doing what he needs to do in order to make a living, while the evil consumer is the one providing the funds for this smurfing to happen. It's like having your stockholders make you do some unethical in business because you need that money in order to feed your family. In this case it's Dragon who needs cash to support himself, because I we can all agree that pro gamers and typically not financially well off unless your name is Nestea, MVP, or MC.

Not many, and if there was, then you wouldn't face them as often as you think you are. Smurfs probably skipped gold through placement matches. You probably just picked a bad build and got outplayed entirely from the start by a normal gold player.

He isn't starting out brand new accounts. These are accounts with quite a few games on them. I remember last week he spent 8 hours or so leveling up one account to masters...
