I got degraded from Diamond to Platin with the first match of this season. I feel like the worst player ever, because Ive been training, but lost many games and I dont know why, not even the replays help me much. I cant figure why Iam so bad. My aim was master, I can totally forget that for month now I think. Can someone maybe help me? Iam MilAgro.212 on the EU Server. Protoss. I was signing for every practice partner thread, but noone contacted me and the ppl I contacted never had time and were not online at all.
I played Sc2 alone from the beginning, I never had a friend or a practice partner. All my online friends kept playing MMORPGS when Sc2 caught my passion.
Ive been reading threads like "How to improve efficiently at Sc2", started playing OSU! until I was able to beat insane maps to work hard on my mouse accuracy for example. Ive been trying alot of builds in Teamgames and trained by joining custom games (shattered temple). Ive been watching Day9 from the first Newbe Tuesday, cause I came with no RTS experience at all.
It feels like Iam at a point where I cant help myself. Its selfish to ask for free help. Ive been giving help to some lower league players and I know its time you maybe cant use on your own training.
I dont know, it seems like nothing is working right, I begin to fear joining ladder games, cause I could get degraded again. I dont know what to do.

Just ladder its the best practice for someone in platinum/diamond. Don't be afraid or have anxiety, all your have to remember is that SC2 is nothing but a game!
|
Yea its a game, but I put alot of effort into it so I cant help getting disappointed of myself. I try to improve littlem things step after step but I start to lose more games, I think I maybe have a big issue that I cant name by myself :/

Hi, I sometimes have the same feeling as you T.T My only advice is to stick to one build order per match up and stick with it. Keep practicing customs with practice partners/random people until you're confident to tackle ladder.

I've had the same thing happen the last 3 seasons on EU (while I'm continually advancing diamond -> masters on NA)...
It might be an adjustment to the EU player base or simply we both slip at the end of the season...
for practice, check out this thread (channel is usually pretty active). http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=296602

lol platin is a very valuable item that is widely found in Gazi Bulvarı and Saimekadın. Platinum is a precious element and a league in starcraft.

The first thing to realize is that you're not actually that bad. You're better than 60% of the people who play this game. Realistically, since you have just been demoted from diamond, you're probably better than 75% of the people who play sc2.
Second, don't be afraid of being demoted again. You probably have always been near the line between diamond and platinum and have only had a slight shift in your ranking. When I switched from terran to zerg I think i lost probably 50 games and won about 15 before I started evening out and I was only demoted 1 league.
Third, I don't know you but I know that when I have thought the things you are thinking, it was because I was putting too much emphasis on things I heard from day9 or pro players when I'm clearly not pro level. I can't do their builds or strats, I need to focus on a game plan that will work for me and reacting to my opponent.

Just curious, how many games per day do you play on average? If your want to upload a few replays to this blog, im sure we would be glad to look them over and offer some advice you might of overlooked.

Ladder ironically enough is NOT the best practice for plat/diamond.
Find one build. Find one friend. Play that build 3 times a day in that MU vs that friend. Make it solid. Make sure it can hold cheeses.
Go back to ladder. Hold cheeses and the rare macro game play that build. win 60% of games, get promoted. Once you get to mid diamond, ladder gets good for practice.
High plat/low diamond is a cheese fest on EU ladder. Esp PvT.
Good luck
P.S. Practice control, 4 gate every PvP. Best control practice, and if you do it right will win 80% of the games coz the other guy can't defend it right...

I don't see why this is such a big deal. Last winter break I had a bunch of time to play, I was actually diamond at the time and had a handful of build orders that I had gotten down pat. But I decided to start messing around with one gate openers, one gate fast expands, really fast expands, etc. Unsuprisingly, because I had no idea what I was doing, I lost like 25 games in a row and got tossed down to gold. But I learned a a lot about what kind of openers are viable, how fast is too fast to expand, what unit compositions are necessary to hold off early zerg, etc etc.
Stop defining yourself in terms of what league you are in. It's arbitrary and does not in anyway reflect on your skill or knowlege as a player. Problem is, when you get so focused on things like ladder ranking, the natural reaction is to use the same strats over and over trying to play the "perfect game". Screw that. This kind of practice can only take you so far. Be creative, try new strategies, try funky strategies. Stop focusing on your league ranking, stop worrying about your e-ego, and just play! I think you will be surprised by how much you learn about the mechanics of this game.

Awww you ruined the mystery now!

Thx for the tips, Iam trying to find some1 to practice with in the improve channel. Everyones mechanics and strategic knowledge can be improved, Iam no exception. The problem is that I kinda get stuck. I scout my opponent and try to find weaknesses, may it be economical, detection, an imobile army or whatsoever. I get what I think I need to win and then by all surprise I get roflstomped at some point of the game xD Now in Platin most opponents are easy to beat. Thats quite cool, I dont fear my opponents. I hope Iam able to get up quick again.
What Ive just realized is that I build not as many gateways as those high master tosses, I build less, produce more consistent and chrono boost in crysis but it seems like I could tech quicker just build more gateways for crysis. Imo its not as efficient to build more gateways and dont produce out of them, because well, a gateway is 150 minerals, but i finally have sth I can work on understanding. It opens up new timings and stuff I guess.

I feel your pain, as I also will likely be demoted back to Platinum soon.
I was doing great for a week or two, but shortly after entering Diamond I've just been tanking every game. Going like 1-5 in a session is demoralizing.

Friends can help you practice against a specific strategy/style but they don't prepare you for the randomness of ladder. If you want to make it through to masters your build/knowledge should be able to withstand the huge variety.

I agree with this toast person. If you really care, however, I suppose you could try playing reactively over and over until you can be a master of scouting and reacting, which is a step in the staircase of awesomeness.

I disagree, if you wanna get better at ladder, you gotta play ladder and get use to all the shit that can happen. If you want to play in touraments and such, go ahead and play customs. Cheese doesn't stop existing when you get mid diamond. also I'm sure bronze all the way to masters can be a cheesefest, you are just over exaggerating.

Have you hit the time when your match up tactics are outdated? I know that happened to me once or twice every season where I have to go redevelop my match ups.
