It was late August this year, the time when the more studious university students are preparing ahead for the upcoming term, that I discovered this show of wonders. Somehow, this TV show hit the bullseye of my soul and left me in ecstasy as I devoured it marathon style. But it was not enough, I needed more. In the following two weeks, I consumed the near 5000 pages of the 5 novels that the HBO show was based on. The ending of the fifth book left me in bewilderment, craving for the 6th installment that shall not come for another three years yet.
This show is the HBO series Game of Thrones season one, based on the first installment of the award winning best selling novel saga "The Song of Ice and Fire". Described by critics as an epic version of "medieval Soprano", receiving 13 Emmy nominations, it is without a doubt the best TV series of 2011 in my opinion. So great was my fandom, that I frequently daydreamed how the upcoming season two would look if I was the director with my choices of actors.
One day, a particularly boring one, I was waiting in my doctor's office. My mind drifted and it suddenly occurred to me that why shouldn't I be a director. A simple youtube video is well within my power to create. Hence, with no past knowledge in video creation, I bent on a journey to create a music video that lives up to my love.
After month of work, please spare a mere five minutes of your time to enjoy this product of passion.
(minimal spoiler) If you like it, PLEASE write a youtube comment. Thank you very much!
You're in the same boat as I am. I started watching the show with the intent of viewing one per day. I trucked through the season in a night. What a GREAT SHOW.
I'll be hammering the books this winter. The world is extremely epic and I love the low fantasy setting. I love LORE so much and A Song of Ice and Fire is full of it. We'll ignore the gross infeasibility of weathering several-year-long darkness and winters in Winterhold, but I guess that just speaks to the incredible endurance of House Stark.
As for the video I liked it, and your blending and timing was very well done. The song is a little more appropriate for a snowboarding video or something though. It's a little too "Jimmy Eat World" for the theme of GOT. Still, great job.

Indeed, I have been a long time fan of fantasy/medieval setting since childhood. The holy bible of the genre was Lord of the Rings. As time grows, I was past the typical "hero saves the world with sword and axe". Game of Thrones series and the Song of Ice and Fire brought me back. It had a perfect mix of maturity, medieval realism with a speck of fantasy. To date, I have not found another book series remotely similar to Song of Ice and Fire. George R. R. Martin can count on my money amongst those pre-ordering his 6th installment.
Thank you for watching my video. There are a lot of "This is War" videos out there, syncing to the lyrics, but rarely well. I thought "I could do better". My favorite part is actually the ending credit as I sync the fan arts with the rhythm of music.

Thank you for your support!
On another note, my friend just texted me. Apparently I made a spelling mistake in the ending credit. I misspelled "soundtracks" and used "sountracks"...oh boy. I detest myself now. ;___________;
Skyrim is totally robbing my life lol, and exam is coming.

Make a video then! :D
I know exactly how you feel though. I spent a great deal of time reading/watching Song of Ice and Fire related work and an even greater amount attempting to find a similar series. In the end, no other book in the fantasy genre quite satisfied me. I am so spoiled. :D

My mistake. Got Skyrim on the brain, plus it's not like the names are very similar or anything.

Get around to it! Take advantage of Christmas break! :D
Yep, seen that one. It was rather entertaining. Generally videos using "this is war" put floating lyrics like Karaoke, I wanted to try it out without the floating text part.
