Soooo... finished UC apps. Now need to make one more decision. (Can be made until January 31)
Do I change my major at UCLA to letters and sciences or keep it CS. They say they don't review and I may not get in with math grades. If I want to do IP law CS at UCLA would be vaguely suicidal, btu I really love the school. How hard is it to transfer, and should i just go in as L&S? =/
At berkeley I applied Natural Resources. I was waffling between that and letters, but realistically it's unlikely I'd go to letters. Even though they are good majors I would probably just go to a national merit school then try to go to a better school for grad. I'm sort of regretting it at this point. I'm fairly unlikely to be in both schools, but L&S has more options. Theoretically I could still change it by emailing berkeley admissions but I'm reluctant to do that. MREH Sort of regret it, but I would have the other way too... BLARGH
Applying to USC. App almost done, but haven't filled out engi specific major essays. One about the terminology of nerd (good god TL.net talks about that a lot) and another about how engi relates to other stuff.
Anyways. Will submit tomorrow. Such a procrastinator.
And for national merit there are thirty billion schools some give full ride some give full tuition, but some only have a good program in one thing and I'm far from set on CS.
IR and econ are interesting and I may want to do law................
damnit why do I have to be NMF

Thought apps meant apps for the iphone or android...

since i'm a senior too I knew straight away it was about college apps lol

In answer to "how hard is it to transfer?" in my experience it is much easier, at least from community college, but I'm not sure if thats what you're asking, but I think even from another 4 year it is still easier. But I guess it depends on how well you do in college courses. For me general education classes were much easier than high school classes (less busy work, I'm a good test taker, what hurt me in HS was the homework load). GPA-wise transfering is much easier. It seems like xfering from community college is much less competitive. I would imagine it would also be able easier to get into a more difficult major while transfering.

I go to UCLA, you will love the CS courses here, if you end up here and ever want advice about classes feel free to pm

what a terrible problem to have
lol, i'm in the same boat though. it's a shame none of the schools offering full rides are good at CS, or else i'd have definitely considered them. (except for alabama. way too hot down there.) even if major hadn't been an issue though, don't you think going to a less reputable school for undergrad would make things a lot harder on you when applying to grad schools? that's another big thing that made me hesitant to even consider going to a NM school.

If by 'transfer,' you mean 'change majors,' it should be relatively easy unless the major is impacted.

i think he means transfering from 1 university to another. It's a lot easier than you'd expect. Probably not to an ivy-league school, but with ~3.5 GPA you can transfer to pretty much anywhere after your first year.

Most of the colleges offering stuff for national merit are ones that I've never heard of, lol. I know what you mean about the majors things, I like Columbia because I can put down Applied Math, I'm a little scared of putting down Math cuz I don't know how much pure math it's going to be, but I don't want to tie myself down in compsci or financial stuff or w/e yet, haha
I don't know about your schools, but for me the major you put down on the app isn't binding, sometimes they don't even look at it ^_^

Switching majors / departments at UCs. I hear it is ridiculous.

Baylor and northeastern are the best, from what I can tell...
It's a bit harder for grad in the sense you need a higher gpa, but being a big fish in a small pond isn't a bad thing. If you have a high GPA/whateverstandardizedtestyoutakeforwhatevergradschoolyougoto you can pretty much go anywhere. Uncle went to Cornell grad school out of University of Idaho.
