Introduction: Another day, 2 more games. Probably won't play a ton this week given my schedule, but I want to try and remain committed and practice when I can, even if it's only a game or two. Tomorrow will likely be the same deal, we'll see. I hope to type up that blog I promised over the weekend, but I'm not sure when that will happen. Hopefully you keep following and encouraging, it helps. Thanks!
Season 4 Overall: 10-14 Day: 1-1 League-Rank: Gold (25)
Game 1 PvZ WIN Map: Tal'darim Altar LE Player: PedoBear Quick Summary Macro-ish game with Zerg player attempting to two-base roach hydra. Two base attack fails and they expand to third and grab Mutalisks instead. Pinned back for a little bit by Mutas since I unwisely choice Zealot for filler, but, Blink Stalkers were made once the Muta transition was realized and eventually won the game after a key engagement with the Mutas.
Build FFE
What to Work On Should have taken third sooner. Should have canceled initial third. Could have used forcefields in the first major engagement in order to completely change the outcome. 2nd Major engagement, should have involved the other two Colossi sooner, would have changed it quite a bit as well. Counter was sloppy, could have done much more damage if not won outright. Could have scouted other bases better, let Zerg take a less likely third.
What I Liked Won key engagements. Responded to sudden tech switch well. Made the right decision to commit at the end.
Game 2 PvT LOSS Map: Shakuras Plateau Player: CAIM Quick Summary Poor execution against a 1-1-1 (well, 2-1-1) build. Should have had more Immortals, microed slightly better, waited to get ramp advantage.
Build 2-Gate Robo
What to Work On Never faced 1-1-1 before. Should have simply executed better. I made a few macro slips, and definitely took too long on putting down the Gateway as a result of trying to keep my probe alive.
What I Liked Scouted enough to sort of see it coming, though I'm frustrated that the two barracks threw me off. Not to mention, since it was a 2-1-1, it should have been slower and thus easier to stop. Nonetheless, I feel like I scouted fairly effectively.
Daily Summary Short day, not a whole lot to say. My PvZ was a bit sloppy, but, at least, I managed to beat the Zerg with some decent play at the end. I liked that my FFE felt a bit tighter today overall, hope that continues, I know I can tighten it more. My PvT was a disappointment, since I could have responded better. I think my best bet was to wait for the ramp, and also to have pumped out an Immortal or two more in the time that I had. That was my mistake. Still, 1-1-1 (even at 2-1-1) is rough to deal with. Some learning was had, but, obviously only a limited amount.
11-28-2011 Shakura Plateau PvT W (The one game I played yesterday. We played a custom game after on Metalopolis where he beat me. I would have won, but, when we decided to base trade I forgot to account for the fact that Terran buildings can fly away. Really, I should have done much better anyways, so I didn't deserve the win in that game, but I did deserve it in the ladder match).

Great job with this whole idea of keeping track of your progress, looks like you are really committed. I wish i had your passion for anything

Don't be envious yet. I have a terrible habit of letting things fall short. Insanely so.

Well, technically, at your level mass games is much better than keeping track of your games. Could probably have gotten 1-3 more games in instead of posting this.
Good luck. ^^

I disagree, respectfully. I can get quite a bit out of taking a step back and reviewing the game, rather than playing repeatedly. Case in point: Sunday. While mass losses aren't necessarily detrimental. I felt like I lost a lot of games because my focus slipped towards the end with the repeated battery of games.
I'm not saying mass games is bad either though, but I feel like a mix of both is probably the most ideal situation for me right now.
Also, I happen to type quickly and I don't watch every second of the replay, I can zoom in on focus points with a pretty decent accuracy, so, I'd say, with the time I spent on the analysis and posting I probably would have gotten 1 game in ,maybe 2, unless we assume very short games.
Plus, this is more fun for me, and that's what it's all about.

Some of the things you say I agree with , but for the most part I would say that mass gaming would imo be more beneficial than playing 1-2 and analyzing them to death with tons of things to note. The next day you have to remember the 10 things you wanted to work on, all in the span of 1, or 2 games. So you basically have 1 or 2 shots at nailing all those mistakes before logging off, with more mistakes added. IMO playing 8-10 games a day would allow you to continually reapply what is needed to succeed. You have more attempts at perfecting the problems in your game, and gain more ingame experience in general, which is a HUGE factor in mechanics and developing them.
You posted about having mechanics problems, and that most certainly stems from lack of playtime. The longer you spend manipulating units, building workers, upgrading, multitasking in general, the easier it becomes and the more natural it feels for your hands to remember. Its basically ingrained into your memory, like a sequence, and you naturally become faster and faster. Repetition is key.
Im not saying to stop analyzing your games, as that certainly can help as well, and its something you enjoy quite a bit. I would however suggest if at all possible, that you take the time to play a few more games each session and allow yourself more than 1-2 games/chances to get things right. Goodluck!

Right, but you're talking about different things.
He's talking about not analyzing my games right there (which is when I have the opportunity) to play 1, maybe 2 more games (for a total of 3 or 4). Whereas you're talking about playing at least 8, maybe 9 more, which, at the present moment, I simply can't do with any frequency.
Does it delay my progress? Certainly. I also feel like it might not actually be as beneficial as is being pushed at the moment, maybe I'll make a blog out of it, but, in essence, here's how I see it:
Right now I'm getting used to the water. I'm stepping in, committing, but not full-fledged swimming yet. While I'm not in the intense flurry of games mode which shows the most results for improvement, I'm developing the basic skills I'll need in order to most efficiently improve my game going forward.
By taking the time now to analyze, record, watch replays, etc... of a few games, I'm slowly getting myself used to the process. If I forced myself to do that for 10 or more games on an every day or every other day basis I would probably become discouraged and slip away from it, because that's a lot of work to expect. (nor do I actually have the time for that at the moment).
What I'm saying is that, eventually, if everything goes well, you will see me knock out a lot of games very frequently, but that's not in the immediate future. However, when it happens, I'll be in the best possible position to benefit from it. And, for any of you that are enjoying what I'm doing here, you'll be able to see the stark contrast to what playing casually (what I'm doing now, more or less) and playing with a bit more determination can put out. It's very exciting.
Thanks for the encouragement and kind words, even in disagreement. It certainly helps me feel like I can do this and have support while doing it. Trust me when I say I'm not ignoring your advice, you'll see!

Eventually you should be faster at understanding what it was you did wrong, and not really have to analyze the replay.
For example, knowing you lost because you didn't take your third should come in the final moments of the game :O.
But overall rep analysis is nice. At least you don't have ladder fear ><.
Although, you don't have to analyze all your games .
glhf!
