Hi TeamLiquid,
My handle is specialist and I am currently top 20 Grandmaster terran in NA server. I currently am in gap year so I want to play starcraft full time. Thus, in order to support myself I wanted to stream for entertainment purposes and make a sustainable money. I also have noticed that there were lack of terran streams and I surely know how to entertain the crowd so I think it's going to be beneficial for both me and the viewers. For those of you who are interested, I recently received 2nd place in local LAN and playhem $100 saturday tournament this month. I think I have what it takes skillwise to be helpful to the tl.net community.
I've tried streaming on this computer and I / my computer / my internet simply cannot handle the stream. Therefore, I am planning to upgrade my internet and buy a new computer to stream in decent quality. However, my current budget is only 1k. I would like to maximize my investment by getting the best deal as possible. It would be very appreciated if you guys can tell me which kind of internet (I use cox now) and computer I should get, as well as from where to obtain them, given the limited budget.
Once I setup correctly, I plan to stream a lot. Probably at least 5 hours a day. Thus, faster you help, the faster I will get to stream and entertain you guys. Also, I plan to stream online tournaments and commentate on recent replays, etc. And in long term, I may enter LANs like mlg for fun.
Finally, thank you for reading and responding.

Just fyi you can't just click a "partner" option for streaming revenue.
You have to first have a stream and get enough viewership to meet Twitch's (or Ustream, etc) to get a partner account. It's one of the biggest misconceptions of streaming.
So if you are doing this to support yourself, I'd look elsewhere. Even if you get a partner account you need a lot of viewers to make it sustainable.

Just upgrade to Preferred, Premier, or Ultimate tier of Cox internet. All 3 are fast enough.
Didn't you get a new computer not a long time ago?

Get a reallyy good processor.
Current specs?

Good idea, but how do you wanna support yourself? Hoping for stream donations? You won't get adverts money! Therefore you need a partnership and that is very hard to get (see bulletproof tried sometime full time streaming, very nice guy and really good but does not even have really much viewers), so if you are not on the favored stream list you will not really get noticed i am afraid. What you can do to get some money is join tourneys, like playhem. Just join every day (it seems like you have a very good chance of winning).
Anyway good luck!!! Hope you can do this fulltime :D

Would probably be beneficial to post this in Tech Support for the computer build, lots of people actively read and post to threads there about builds, they're pretty good about fitting budgets to best possible specs.

ok if you have 1mbps bandwidth you can stream. now what you need is a webcam and a decent mic/headset. if you have those then great, if you don't get them. Also, you should try to overclock your CPU if you haven't already, your going to want as many GHz you can get. 4gb of ram should do for now but getting 6gb would be ideal. so http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.769834&cm_sp=DIY_PC_Combos-_-769834-_-Combo, would fit what you need plus a graphics card which would be around $150-$200 for a decent one. that should leave you with around $200-$300 left over which can be used in purchasing better internet. I'm not sure where you live so I can't give you a proper internet quote but in Ooltewah, TN, USA its 57.99 a month for 30mbps up and down. so your leftover cash should last your for about 3-4 months.
