Hello, friend. While I can't understand what I'm typing (a little too drunk), I trust that you will. If you want a fun friend to play Dota 2 with, I'm your man. I'm not usually drunk.

FAREWELL, KEY-GIVER.

After 10,000+ hours of DotA, I'm still looking forward to DotA 2. Might as well try my luck for a key.

Good read for the basics, was glad it showed pulling most of all. you would be surprised how many people don't really know how to do it.

If it's not too much trouble, do you think your next guide could be a write-up on the intricacies of laning and drafting? I've played DotA a few years back casually and have a good grasp of the game's flow, but whenever I watch casts I'm absolutely stumped at the casters' analysis of what hero should get picked/banned next, and also their predictions of which heroes will go to which lane.

Yeah I'm not very good.

Now that everybody's been talking about DotA 2 and after seeing a bunch of vids/pics of the game, I have to say I'm actually surprisingly looking forward to it. Lol, I started playing DotA back in the W3: Reign of Chaos so I still remember the good old days of HOSTING shenanigans and moments where people would be buying recipes thinking they gave stats. And I'm CONVINCED I started the Rikimaru trend of getting Diffusal Blade, but that's a different story for a different day I suppose.

Anyways.. I Ended up becoming a beta-tester for new DotA patches that were periodically coming out back in 2007ish till about 2008. Sadly I kinda got kicked out after showing off new patches to friends of mines so that and the fact that the community started dieing down in terms of people, skill, and "manners", led to me quitting DotA about a year and a half later (About 6 years of playing). No matter how good DotA 2 is though, nothing will ever beat the EARLY days of W3 DotA!

Haha, well... I planned on saying a few words about the blog post but after I began writing a few things about DotA I really got hit with nostalgia . So good job on writing about the basics and I'll stop here before I write a whole blog post myself
Mea Culpa!

Hey Bumble, I also had a question. I saw that you had said your favorite support was OmniKnight. My build with him differed what I was facing, but I found that, even at max level, I would leave only two points in Repel. Because my heal couldn't go through my own shield, I felt that having it's duration last 10 seconds instead of 20 could be a lot more beneficial than the 20 seconds of Repel without healing. Thoughts?

Why would you do that? The fact that you can give anyone a 20 second BKB is your best asset lategame, considering that your heal is not very useful lategame either.

I always felt that that additional 10 seconds sometimes did more harm than good.

The 2nd spell on OmniKnight is not an extra 10 seconds. It's 6, 8, 10, 12 seconds. The cooldown is 14 seconds.

Rofl figured it out a minute after I posted that, I just assumed that he was telling the truth

Nice guide, seems really helpful for beginners.

I actually haven't touched actual DotA since for nearly 4 years, so this really brings me back. HoN just doesn't carry the same feeling
