So a few days ago I joined a new minecraft server that had just reset everything so it was a fresh start. There is a faction mod so you can basically create your own faction and create land. You have a set amount of power you can use to claim land. Each member has 10 max power and loses power when they die.
My faction is called The Vikings. A neighboring faction next to us was called Hwasueng Oz. These people as you can probably guess became our enemy. A few of their members started trolling and claiming land that was too close for our comfort so our leader delcared war on their faction.
So we had a few skirmishes and then I went to bed. While I was gone they raided one of our leaders house's and stole a few valuebles. As retatliation he and a few others broke in killed them a few times and left without taking a thing. This did not go over so well with them.
By this time it is the next morning and we are all getting onto the server to see what's up. My friend Mag who lost all his iron was going on a mining run to gather some more iron for himself. While we were gone HwasuengOz faction broke into our lets say castle under construction. They killed us many times and thereby lowering our power. This meant that they could now claim our land and we would lose our access to our items. They plundered and destroyed many things that we had put some hard work into. The server admin told us that we should just fight back and if we still lost he would help us move farther north and make a new country for us to live in. So during all of this me and Mag mined enough iron to make about 6 sets of armour and some iron swords. (We had 6 members our of 9 fighting in this war) With the help of our godly friend Nameless from an ally faction he gave us 3 diamond swords to help give us more of a fighting chance. (During their raid they stole 14 diamond from us) So onec we had gotten all these items the 6 of us and our friend nameless went to battle. Luckily for us on the first raid Mag had set his home inside their (castle). So one after another we tele'd inside and started fighting. After about 10 minutes of ruthless fighting we had claimed land inside their castle and gained control of the doors. We then began to battle them and gain as much of their land as we could. We then found their room full of chest and items they stole from us. We kept taking runs back and forth into a new room on land we still owned and taking all of their items. We still had to keep fighting for a hour or so until we regained enough power to claim back our land. Finally we had done it and they ragequit and disbanded their faction giving us all our of land back.
The victory had not come without a cost thought, we had lost much of our hard work and spent hours after rebuilding it.

Sounds like a crazy battle! I didn't realise minecraft had that much PvP (player vs player). I thought it was about building stuff. Is the PvP part a latter edition?

Minecraft is awesome! So much to explore and the many mods make it that you never run out of things to do!

Pretty awesome story =) Minecraft sounds really fun, and I should probably try it just for the hell of it, but somehow I've been avoiding the issue since other games I'm interested in are coming out relatively soon.

Haha alright we are at the moment the most powerful faction on the server but if we get another opposition I will be sure to remember pictures for now I will show you our castle contrsuction next blog unless something good happens :D

How do server wars work? Wouldn't you get owned by attacks that happen whenever you are not online? As far as I know, it's probably a lot more work and effort to create defenses than it is to break through them. There are a lot of difficult adventure maps, but those rely a lot on monster spawners and relatively limited resources. I feel like with enough time, any defenses are relatively easy to get through, especially if there's no one online to repair things.

We're using a bunch of mods I installed. This is not vanilla adventure/SMP.
Imagine Risk-meets-legos. That's our server.

Yeah well this just in news. We asked if they were going to stop and they said no so it sounds like we are still at war, but currently ahead

oh i'd like to state that their flowing lava fall i renovated and put into a room where one of them set their spawn to. so he was constantly dieing to lava

oh, i've been waiting for a mod like this. I might hop on...although I'm busy grinding the fuck out of puzzle pirates...I might strip mine to help out a faction during PP dead time

I wasn't aware that minecraft actually had a purpose now. Time to start playing some more lol.

Sounds awesome, I play in a non-PvP server and I thought dealing with random creepers destroying my beautiful wooden sculptures was enough stress already... (well also partly due to my noobiness of running to my most valuable sculptures when being chased by a couple creepers)

The land claim doesnt allow non clan people to break blocks, right?? if you declare war, does that change or what??
minecraft pvp has the potentially to be really cool, but there's a bunch of things that hold it back

Any other faction enemy or ally can't build blocks or break them on your land. the reason we could do it and vise versa was that the power lvls were lower. When they broke in and killed some of us we lost out power lvl. Then proceeded to turn into cave dwellers as we made our iron armour.
