So, when I first started browsing TL it was for BW, but I started playing verrry late, when SC2 was like 3 or 2 years away? and the highest I ever got on B.net was D+(so close to C- at one point ) but for the most part i dedicated most of my day to playing SCBW. and I looooved it, me and my friends all played and 2v2v2v2 at BGH all day. UNTIL, I started doing 1v1 all day, mostly on LT and python. And I fell in love with terran, especially bio. I often used a bio rush vs protoss early too, it worked quite a bit and I loved stim and medics. And now, SC2 brings me back to feeling like a kid, I love it yet again. This is just kinda my "yay" blog, but I have a few questions and some comments. Please excuse me if these questions seem silly, I've been out of the SC scene for a looooong time. I have over 2k games on LoL, it became my BW but now I'm trying to balance the two.
PS: my goal on SC2 is to one day become good enough to play and compete in local tournaments.
Question #1: What is the absolute best way to practice my macro? A lot of the time, I find myself trying to harass the opponents mineral line with reapers, and as I do my economy taanks. I have a hard time hoykeying the groups with my new keybord (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126100) just got it today :p ) and as I try to micro the reapers, and controlling my base. Any advise on finger postioning, should I configure my G1-G18 keys to do anything? How should I position my fingers? Mainly, what is the best way to practice a situation like this?
Question#2: Do I need to download maps, or are most maps used online B.net ones? I can't find much on this, and what I have found hasn't been very helpful :p
Question #3" Does anyone wanna add me on B.net? Account name: marct1994@gmail.com SCII name?: ttnjwk

At first I would not recommend reaper or harass oriented openings. Try something like 1rax FE or 2 rax FE. Try not to queue things, up, make workers, use mules, etc.
You don't need to dl maps. You can dl the maps by searching them in the join/create game in the bottom right of the multiplayer screen.

Congrats! Here this might have some info that'll help: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=208343
You don't download maps. Bnet keeps like a listing of maps you search for, then when you select one if you don't have it you DL it automatically after you select it.
Yeah you can add me CecilSunkure.934

you crazy? 1rax expand with reaper in back of a P base and 2marauder 1 marine timing is sick can cancel their nexus while getting probe kills and getting your own expansion if done right

Sounds a bit complex for what I presume is a bronze leaguer. at his level all he needs to focus on is 1 simple build order and macro macro macro.

Hey, I read your question about how to improve macr the best and it made me think of a very very recent day[9] daily about queen inject timing that I think applies perfectly to your situation (despite being focused on zerg macro).
Day[9] states that whenever you're trying to improve a specific part of your play, a very important thng to do is change your priorities, for example you're trying to get your macro better, so in your games make unit production your priority above anything else. You'll find yourself staring at your base and losing lots of games but as you get used to the timings and the thought pattenrs you'll find yourself much better at macro than you once were and then have time for micro and harass again.
I'll link the daily, I think it's well worth your time I hope this helped.

Yeah, I was just recommending simple macro oriented openings w/o too much multitasking and micro since it sounds like his multitasking is lacking.

There is zero chance that someone who can get D+ on BW is stuck in bronze league. He's probably more like platinum.

You should show us your replays, so we can know what level you are at. Anyway, it's never too late for the SCII party. GL HF, sir.
Also, if you want any practice, add me boon.809 . I'm high diamond-low master terran.

well if hes D+ he's probably plat/diamond. at least that's how it was for me. a few basic builds off the top of my head:
TvZ 1 rax FE(basically go gasless, throw down a couple bunkers and after you get your natural CC build 3-4 additional raxes and 2 refineries)
2 rax into expand can usually do a bit of damage while being secure and transition into macro game
BFH harass(2 refineries 1 rax one base. throw up 2 facs when you can, get tech lab on one for BFH, go out when you have 4-6 hellions. make sure to throw up an armory so you can have thors for his roaches, or for his mutas)
TvP 1 rax expo same deal
bio-i never use bio against protoss, but its basically the same deal vs zerg except use marauders/medivacs instead of tanks. kiting is very important to kill off zealots and avoid force fields
ghostmech-might be a little advanced, but you can open 1marie+1marauder then go for 1 fac+ghost academy, get moebius reactor timed with your ghost popping out, and get tanks with siege mode. expo depending on what the protoss is doing.
TvT mech is looking good(though i use ghost mech as in every other MU)-most terrans go mass tanks and mass vikings, but you can feel free to get thors instead of vikings and some hellions. you have great damage soakers, great dfense, and great harass units
those are what i usually do and what i usually see. its a good brief outline for a starter.
In General: with mech: timing pushes are what make it strongest. try 200/200 3/3 push, or some other timing will be most effective. with bio: the general idea is to harass your opponent while being mobile with your main force. do many drops to damage him, and make sure to be careful of losses. take out important tech buildings or workers and get the heeel outta there. then when you're ready make a big push with marine/marauder/medivac/ghost/viking vs protoss or marine/tank/ghost/medivac vs zerg
hope that helps get you started!
edit: the macro while micro'ing thing will come with time. if you know how to build multitasking skills then it will be natural. if not, well im not sure how to teach someone an entirely new skill like that O.o I guess you have to learn to split your mind in two. One part is dancing in the guy's base with reapers while the other maintaining a steady base line in your own. Yes, there's music in starcraft.
oh yeah and add me if ya like Roe.140

B.Net automatically downloads the maps for you if you don't have them when you enter the game. It's pretty similar to the BW B.Net downloading system.
Feel free to add me, I'm a plat/diamond zerg who's always up for some practice games

Bronze League?!
This guy was D+, close to C-. Even if its been a long time since he played BW he should still be sharp enough to be in platinum/low diamond from reasonable mechanics.

Best way to improve your macro:
Keep making workers, don't get supply blocked, and keep your money low.
It's really that simple, but it's not that easy when you start out
To keep your money low, just keep making stuff. Lots and lots of attacking units out of your unit-producing structures. Can't produce them fast enough to keep your money low? Instead of queueing your units, make more unit producing structures. Upgrades and tech are nice too, but just make a shit ton of stuff.

He will already be about low masters or highish diamond. He should just watch a few replays/vods and try to copy them, and his multitasking gets better by practicing alot, aka playing.
