I am very happy about being promoted into platinum however I am in a new league with better players. There will be a long journey to diamond which I hope is rather short, pending on how fast I improve but what do I have to work on in order to make that leap into a new league?

Also what can I expect in my new league?

Nothing new really, since you already played a few games on platinum MMR.

Well, When I was in platinum I faced alot of all-ins personally, may not be the case for other people but then it was game after game of it. Just keep working on macro and scouting would be my advice, taking bases and also making sure you know what he is doing.

same stuff in gold with slightly better mechanics. Plat is the best league to start working on a build and mechanics to get ready for diamond.

Grats! A lot of the same, I recently got into platinum too and didn't notice to much difference. Probably because you already got matched vs platinum players before. People just seem to have a bit better mechanics and build orders

I've found that getting to diamond is simply about making more units then your opponent. Doesn't matter what units, just units. You will lose some games to silly things like not having detection, but you learn and adapt. You don't really have to worry about specific "build orders" and reading your opponents play and reacting until diamond. That being said you still need to stay somewhat reasonable on your BO's. Obviously 8 gateways on one base isn't ever going to work. My favorite way to practice back in my gold days where to make only stalkers and try to pressure my opponent as I grew to 3 base. I never worried about army composition because I only ever made stalkers. Then as I got better at keeping my army active as I macro'd I started to add a robo for immortals/obs, then grew into cols. I got into diamond with stalkers only (not 4 gate stalkers too

)

Yeah: Platinum is just a line. You've been "in Platinum" for a while, your MMR has to increase to above the average of Platinum players for you to be promoted. So you'll still be up against the same class of people for a while.

Grats on your promotion however, I got there just recently.

Nice one dude. i can't comment about what plat is like, because I'm still in Gold, but i imagine its like Gold, but slightly better

Your opponents aren't going to suddenly be better because you're in platinum; your MMR has been rising continuously, and getting into plat hasn't made it jump up all of a sudden.

Congrats on promotion.
It's not simple to say you need X and Y. You need to improve various parts of your game such as scouting better, reacting better, better micro & macro, possible build order fix, etc.

Congratulations! I find that platinum players have some tighter builds and their macro is slightly better than the gold players. There is still a lot of work to go. I would personally concentrate on having some really solid builds, 1-2 per race, and concentrate mainly on maintaining solid macro. You can win games by just making a lot of units like others have said but it will not be as successful at this level as it was in gold.
