It is also nice to see community members make really cool things for the love of the game such as teevox, learning materials, casting, tournaments, and other cool stuff. Which got me thinking over the past several months, how can I contribute?
So, I've been thinking and thinking to try to come up with skills that can be used for eSports.
Programming? Very bad at it.
Drawing? Lolno
Writing? I attempted to do some recaps. I found it was fun however I felt my writing wasn't super great.
Casting? Tried this with screddit crew. It was interesting however 3 hour KoTHs did not jive with school. Also, my overall rank is SC2 is not that great, kind of felt like I was missing obvious things that were happening.
ProGamer? Just got reclassified to silver. A major blow to my already wounded ego T-T
Going through all these options, it's like well shit, it doesn't seem like I can do much. This thought changed this past Wednesday when I got accepted as a referee for IPL 3. I was really blown away that I got accepted, I was sure that I wasn't going to get in mainly because there are people who are waaaaaay more qualified than me and also been around longer.
But, I figured like this. If I can't do something incredibly fancy, I might as well attempt to do a lot of volunteer/grunt work. I don't mind taking off work or school (sometimes...) to help with an event so that it runs smoothly and that everyone can enjoy it. It makes me happy that I can help people out and I really am happy when it's a hobby that I enjoy. I hope IPL continues this practice for their other live events. It really gives the community the opportunity to help out besides watching/paying for streams.
This blog was inspired by Plexa's post from last week. Even if you don't have a obvious skill you can still find something to do to contribute.

Note: I helped organize my university's CSL team and I'm now helping with the LoL team. That is for another blog
