I'm cheap and poor.
So.
Ef 50 mm 1.4 or EF 50 mm 2.5 macro or just fuck it all and go with a summicron 50, knowing of course 5d II viewfinder is as dark and blurry as my ass is....
someone tell me !
edit : btw I've been using an elmarit 100 mm f4 makro and whenever its a tad dark takes an eagle eye to make the crap focus properly.

im sorry you're gonna have to be a little more specific, but you're talking about cameras right?

and i'd rather take advice from TL nerds as photographers are all a bunch of faggots.

I'm just sad to hear that you've got a blurry ass, my condolences.

There's actually several people on TL who are into photography/could maybe answer your question... =/
Hope one sees this blog, I guess, though you might want to make your question more clear in the OP, I for one am not sure exactly what you're asking.

People are so nice here >.>
I need to buy a 50 mm lense.
Canon 50 mm line up kind of fails and its hard to decide.

Ask professional photographers, there are many salesmen that will give you honest answers if you tell them that only honest answers will cut it if they want a sale, and even a few that don't need that much in the hopes of giving their company a good reputation. There is probably even a good forum for it...

Whether that turns out to be true or not [it isn't], it doesn't impact the fact they have the answers you seek. Stop being a douche and go ask people who will know for sure instead of hoping the 1/5000 TL members who know a) see this and b) can be bothered replying
|
Not to mention you don't even tell us what you are using it for..
For example: If you NEED macro, then obviously the 50 1.4 ain't gonna cut it If you NEED low light portraits, then obviously you want the 1.4 If you NEED autofocus, then the summicron won't work, would it?
Not to mention the summicron ain't "cheap" as you are "poor"

You can only mount R leica lenses on a dslr
so a used summicron R goes for about 500 euros i guess
the canon 1.4 IQ is shit but its still 1.4 and it's af is pure fail imo
I have all i need for macro. I'm talkin about the 2.5 macro because it has far better IQ than any other 50 mm in canon lineup (sadly).
the AF is the main issue because of the shit viewfinder of the 5d mark ii
and most pros sadly don't know shit about third party gear and internet doesn't really have a clue either (too biased)
thing is people using leica lenses on their dslr will say its the best
people mounting medium format lenses on their dslr will say anything else is shit
then most people will say all this doesn't matter because it won't show on the print anyhow
besides low light is fine with the mark ii's iso perfomance
you can perfectly shoot low light with no noise whatsoever even above 1600 iso nowadays

I was more looking for someone here that maybe had experience with both the 2.5 and the 1.4 EF 50 mm on a full frame sensor.
I'm bored of internet photographic litterature. It's all so crappy.
|
thanks for the input tho
edit : another affordable option would be the 40 mm ultron in canon mount.
|
i'm mostly after nice colors and nice contrast 3d is also a +
|
Your question might be better asked here: http://photo.stackexchange.com/
I can't offer any other advice, sorry. And my guess is that the warning was probably more related to the blatant disregarding of all professionals in the fields as anything derogatory and not so much the language used.
|
Well the 50 2.5 will definitely be useful for IQ and can take some of the effort off shooting macro in low light settings. The 1.4 isn't meant for pure IQ, but if you stop it down, it would compete easily with the 2.5.
As far as colors and contrast, most people do say the 2.5 is better than the 1.4.
You don't like the Canon forums?

I only trust what I read on TL
edit : even for conspiracies
