Hi everyone!
I'm making this blog post to announce the ProLeague Manager game that I'm currently working on. Once I have a playable alpha release out there I'll be making a post about it in the BroodWar forum but for now I wanted to keep it to the blogs section.

So what is this game that I'm making? Well it is similar to MyStarcraft I suppose, except all in English and it is made in Flash so it'll run in the browser, hosted on my website. For now I don't have a multiplayer component planned, however games will be saved online so you'll be able to log in from anywhere and continue playing. There will also be a way to compare your score to those of other players (in other words an online leaderboard).

I'm hardly an expert on Manager-style games (I've played a little FIFA Manager, that's about it) so I'll be looking to the TL community to make this the best damn Broodwar Manager game it can be (in fact if you have any ideas, feel free to start posting right now).

In order to make this game I've had to learn Flex and PHP/MySQL pretty much from scratch so it's been a bit of a learning curve but I'm getting there so hopefully I'll have something playable to show off soon. I'm thinking about setting up a donations jar to help me justify the large amounts of time I'm sinking into this and offset hosting costs/buy diet coke for those late night coding sessions. I probably wouldn't do that until the initial alpha release, but if you are interested in donating let me know in this thread.

Now I suppose all of this would be sort of useless without some screenshots so here we go (note that it is still a work in progress though!):

As I make more progress I'll keep everyone updated either through this blog post or a new one. One last question as I finish this off: should I make the initial alpha open to everyone or should I keep it invite only at first? Post your thoughts.

if you could figure out how to code regens into the game + implement a draft system, it would make playing these games actually worth their time (good grief i've wasted the past month playing football manager growing my own regens).

Wondering if there is a draft system implanted and maybe trade options? online leaderbords is a must

If the alpha comes out I'll definitely play it :D

I'll absolutely implement a draft system at some point, as well as the ability to train up rookies through Dream League too. However, priority is of course to have something playable so at first you will be restricted to using the pre-made teams, then I'll add transfers and after that I'll look into creating a draft system.

In the meantime I just finished adding a radar chart for the player attributes:

looks really cool and promising, waiting for more.
sadly I don't know anything about stuff like this so I can't give any advice/thoughts to improve
it :/^^

Yeah just started to use Flex, before that I just used FlashBuilder to do pure AS stuff. Must say I'm impressed at just how quickly you can make a really nice looking app with Flex though. It's quite nice (though the IDE is a tad lacking compared to VS sadly).
