It's been a couple of looong nights following MLG, even though I've slept fairly well my eyes feel like concrete bunkers and my brain is the war criminal hiding inside it while the reich is falling apart.
However, despite the usual technical problems (MLG sure knows how to keep a tradition alive ) I am overall very pleased with MLG. The first day had so so matches, nothing that MLG could do anything about. But the entertainment value didn't exactly blow through the roof. Perhaps I was a bit too psyched and expected more, but the state of the meta game (please, flame me for using this) is somewhat.. How should I say it - safe.
But the 2nd day provided some really nice games, like when Jinro nukes Choya. That was so epic. And did Rain play all the time? There were some really nice results.. Tyler 2 - 0'ing Choya, White-ra still being in the tournament even though he got DQ'd.
I am still exited for the matches that are to come and MLG is truly an awesome event. I wish they streamed more of the games, like DH did with 4-5 different streams going on at the same time.
And hats of to our casters, must be soo hard working these kinds of hours. Just constantly talking, after some 10-11 hours I just muted them as my brain couldn't handle all the information that was flowing out of their mouths.
Specially thanks to Husky and MrBitter who I think does a tremendous job and I really like them. MrBitter in particular I really like his calm voice and accent. It's nice to have someone that doesn't scream at the top of his lungs as soon something happens (DayWheat *cough*)
[insert more text about foreigners picking games of Koreans]
ps. this winners and loosers, such an American thing..

I have a conspiracy theory about that second nuke. I think Choya was going to gg anyway and let it be a celebration nuke. As with all conspiracy theories, I have no proof and wear tin foil on my head. Still though, that second nuke was awfully strange.
I agree there were some very good games played on Day 2. I am overall pleased that I did not pay for MLG, however the quality has improved enough that I don't mind the advertisements as much.
(I miss Tastosis casting, talking about drinking cheap whiskey and eating vegetarian meals)

This being said, is Choya still in? I haven't been able to keep up with the tournament except for DongRaeGu.
|
I believe he may be by the skin of his teeth. Tyler knocked him out in Open winners for group play which means he must be in Losers.
What was the Demu QXC score btw?
|
Probe1 - While I don't think he took that nuke for the show.. I do think most players this tournament has stayed around while loosing to give some good last fights.
----
Nope, Choya was actually pushed out by iNcontrol 2 to 1, which I kinda not see coming. So both Alicia and Choya are out. Crazy stuff!
Demu beat QXC by 2 to 1.
Theorycraft:
Also if we take a look at the current standing, DRG vs MMA and Boxer vs Rain. That's the four Koreans against each other, I predict DRG and Rain going through. And the players that's coming through the looser bracket isn't all fun and games. People like IdrA have surely had some time to catch up on this new SlayerS early mid game timing push allin play.. so, it's going to be interesting. So getting knocked down in the looser champion bracket might not be as easy as it was winning the pools.
ps. my brain might not make the best of English sentences. Apologies

(I miss Tastosis casting, talking about drinking cheap whiskey and eating vegetarian meals) Since two nukes hit Choya that game, my theory is that he didn't notice the "Nuclear Launch Detected" warning since it's in English.

I actually thought this was pretty obvious, and was amazed to see DJwheat and Day9 scoff at the thought of it being a mistake on Choya's part. the GG came the instant the nuke hit, there was no delay, he knew that was a last ditch effort. Despite if the nuke had hit or not, his opponent was in too good a position to lose, which Choya realised and took the nuke for the fans.

I only wish "foreigners" could put up a better fight against Koreans. 28-0 against non-Koreans in pool play. They lost individual games and Choya and Alicia lost in the open bracket, so there's still some hope but still.
