SOOOOOO. What's up guys, this is Cyclone (the guy that made the "pros said hi to me" thread
So I thought this might be interesting to post (not really) and I'm sure you guys will find this inspirational (lol i'm funny) and amazingly awesome (eh)
A lot of people may laugh at me, but the only music I listen to...is instrumental. That's not the worst part. My favorite music...is game instrumental. I've been called a geek for listening to this type of music (well, obviously) and therefore I don't show my iPod around.
Just an example on songs I have in my iPod: (I use to have 300, deleted a bit of em, have around 100 now) Before my music collection was edited I had about 100 Megaman Songs (no joke) from Battle Network 1-6, Starforce, Phoenix Wright themes, parodies of Sonic songs, anime songs... I decided to limit myself from songs that I hardly listen too (well, after 2 years you would be bored of the same music) And the music that stayed after my iTunes cleanup were:
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle- City Escape (if you've played this game, you gotta love the song), Metal Harbour, Green Forest Sonic and the Black Knight- Fight the Knight, With Me, Theme of Merlina, Molten Mine, Misty Lake Sonic Unleashed- Apotos Windmill Theme, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 (sucky game, beautiful music)- Theme of Elise, Theme of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Appears, Vs. Character, Wave Ocean
Megaman Starcraft Force (TRIBE)/Ryuusei no Rockman: Kizuna Wave, Heart Wave
And of course, Starcraft 2- Terran Themes 1-5, Protoss Themes 1, 2 (3-5 so bland) Starcraft 1- Echoes of War (my only memory from 15 minutes of BW)
Okay, so I'm just gonna put this out there. As you can probably tell, I'm a fan of Sonic. I've never had a N64 (I hear I'm missing out on Ocarina of Time) and I haven't played much games to really hear music. The only "good" music instrumentally I like is Sonic, and Starcraft (hehe) and I really wanna get music from Chrono Trigger, from Legend of Zelda, and any other series you guys might have (I don't know much video games, I only appreciate the music) :D
The music I generally listen to is action paced (see Molten Mine, Misty Lake) or action quiet (Theme of Elise, Theme of Merlina), I like listening to mass drums but nothing hardcore (like UADFUHAUDUDHFPAUHDFPAHDFPUAHDFADF strumming, just some rhythm like Green Forest) Then again, if your music doesn't fit, post it anyways, I might find some new thanks guys
Thanks. Not really sure if this is really a blog. eh. sorry mods. -.-"
Here's one of my favorite video game themes that I rarely see others know of:
Also I recommend checking out the Battle-girl soundtrack. Battle-girl was an awesome mac-only arcade-style game with the best music. You can download it to give it a go here: http://rotanimod.com/battlegirl.rar
For a kind of chiptune w/ modern elements, check out the Bionic Commando OST
Also, if you liked Chrono Trigger, check out Chrono Cross, as well as the Ocremix album for chrono trigger
You should also try to look into touhou remixes, because they are produced with a much higher quality than those of normal video game related songs (usually on par with OCR's work), and the songs often have great base melodies, or they wouldn't have been remixed in the first place!
Because touhou has a rather confusing organizational style ill tell you a few bands you can type into youtube - Morrigan (Orchestral) - TAMUSIC (in your words 'action quiet' but they also do alot of fast paced stuff, a good place to start in the Touhou Music Violin albums) - Soundholic (Really well rounded, do a variety of styles, search 'Swing Holic if you want to listen to jazz, IMO their strongest genre) (reccomeneded albums: Hoshi, Bun) (If the song has A~YA as a singer its also usually really good) - 709Sec (rock, reccomended albums: Phantom Dreamer) - Other reccomended albums : accoustic shooter, onsen matsuri, Scarlet Rhapsody OST, and Toho Irish, The Tower,
The Super Smash Bros Brawl OST is amazing, and has something like 300 tracks all from classic nintendo games, all really well done, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 as well.
Wipeout HD had an amazing soundtrack, but I didnt care for Wipeout HD Fury's so much
Castle Crashers has alot of very catchy upbeat tunes, but can be a bit annoying at time IMO.
Anything by Zelda Re-Orchestrated is amazing, you should definitely check them out if you have an interest in Zelda music.
Well, thats all I can think of off the top of my head! I hope my formatting wasnt too confusing :S
