Apparently Tarn Adams wants Lan Support for SC2 as well.
As you can see there are no trees in the area so I will have to bring quite a bit of wood with me in order to ensure I can build beds for my dwarves. The lack of wood might also make it tough to start a metal working industry because I may lack fuel. The only other thing this area seems to be missing is Flux Stone, so steel may be a challenge to create.
I also think its kind of funny that a Joyus Wilds biome is right next to a Terrifying biome.
Uh-oh

Skill and Item Choice
Because I'm embarking an a potentially dangerous area I am bringing a dedicated military dwarf for defense and a medical dwarf (who will also be my broker).
For obvious reasons I'm not bringing a dwarf with any skill in wood cutting, but my military dwarf will be an axeman so in a pinch he could cut down trees.
I am bringing two miners, one grower, and one cook/brewer/mechanic.
In all cases I put 1-2 points in each skill mentioned.
For items, I am not bringing any picks, axes, or armor. Instead, I am bringing an iron anvil, copper bars, coke, and a unit of stone so I can craft my own items. My military dwarf will be in charge of that.
In addition to what you can see below, I've brought 82 tower-cap logs.

I have played a little dwarf fortress, but not enough to really get the mechanics yet. But, judging from what i've heard and what the warning said and what you died to with your last fortress - good luck, you might need it! xD
