(This is just a rant)
So I got consumed by an MMO ... again. Practically all my gaming time was diverted there and as a result I haven't played SC2 for almost 3 weeks now.
I was a diamond Zerg who switched to Random and I'm currently located in platinum.
A few days ago after coming home and having a few drinks too much I decided to play 2 ladder games and won despite making a looooad of mistakes (never getting Baneling speed in a ZvT, got other upgrades really late, practically no micro, etc.). But after that I still haven't played again.
Well but now I'm thinking if I should even get back into the game on a more regular base or just let it slip and wait until the expansion motivates me to play more. I figure I'll never be Grandmaster or even Master anyways. I'm feeling too old and slow and actually SC2 is the first RTS that I played a bit more serious. Even after a year my average APM cap is at like 80-90 when playing Zerg and 50-60 when playing Protoss/Terran. I still can't do drops without letting macro slip and so on... still soo much to learn.
I feel the break has hurt me way too much, even though I noticed with other activities that a bit distance from repetition and training can help though (i.e. playing instrument like guitar and drums).
So yeah... I'm still not sure what to do :D

I take more or less forced breaks from the game sometimes, while the first matches are brutal, stuff comes back pretty fast. Maybe play some team games or practice customs before laddering again.
SC2 is a bit like riding a bike, you don't forget how to do it, but the main difference is that the first games will be like if you crashed your bike and broke half the bones in your body while the handlebars are brutally rammed up your throat causing severe trauma. Or at least that's how it's been for me

Im getting consumed by a MMO right now...weeeeeeee feels like drugss
SC2 is like riding a bike...feels funny after you havent done it for a while but afterwards it feels normal again really really fast.
Just have fun yo!

Play casually. Get some friends together and play, play team games, customs, whatever Slowly, you'll improve, at the same time, having fun

Don't play team games. If you actually want to get back into it just keep playing and get into it again, you'll be back to where you were in notime.

I go on 1-2 week breaks all the time, and yeah I get crazy rusty, I can't believe how bad I get without playing for just several days. But if you play out several games you get to where you were more or less.
It's interesting actually to take breaks and do nothing but watch streams -- I feel like my SC2 intelligence has grown substantially, but b/c my mechanics and APM have deteriorated I have to rebuild up good habits and re-breakdown bad habits. Pretty frustrating, but only thing to do is practice.
