I don't really see what the problem you have is Torte. If there is a problem, I'm probably suffering from it too since I spend a lot of time on these forums as well. Are you saying that you haven't attained mastery of anything yet? Because I haven't either. I don't think a lot of people have. 99% of my class still can't code for shit or build anything of real value. As long as you're improving in your field of choice though, you will probably attain mastery. Sociology might not provide you with a lot of options in terms of careers but can't you just get a job outside your degree? I figure businesses need social media experts these days, you could code. Your rant seems silly and I'm going to treat it as such now.

Your rant seems silly and I'm going to treat it as such now. Y'know, perhaps it is silly. It's just an overall complaint that I can't seem to find anything I am proud of or comfortable with. The gist of the complaint is that I'm in a rut where no aspect of my life thrills or excites me while they also don't make me comfortable or confident in my ability. The examples are the results and/or the relative downhill of quality I've come to assess. Education-wise, I'm doing something I neither love nor enjoy, but tied to do for the sake and future of others (as well as their well-being). Entertainment wise, all my food tastes bland, my writing is too personal convoluted and my favourite game has started to become more of a chore and a cross to emotionally crucify myself with than an actual enjoyment or an outlet to remind myself that I do succeed somewhere, despite how trivial it is to the outside world. It's a complaint, plain and simple. Am I looking for a solution? Yes, you bet, but I am also looking for those who equally feel like me, where they suck and everyone above them seems to easily excel or have found the magic formula of motivation, confidence and results that pushes them to further improve and everyone below others and I just don't care about that aspect in their life and thus don't get bothered by it as much as myself. That's the gist of it.

I guess I wanted you to clarify how other people were doing better than you by giving examples. I think I understand what you were saying a bit better now. If these feelings of dissatisfaction in life are consistent then perhaps it's a genetic issue. Like you just are less able to be happy than others. Have you looked into the hedonic treadmill? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedonic_treadmill It basically says that as people gain more in life, they become used to higher standards and thereby don't actually become any happier. If you look into happiness you'll find things that tend to correlate with personal satisfaction such as achieving a higher goal, mastery over a hobby, being social, less stressed, and exercising. Someone else's advice about finding a job wasn't bad, because jobs tend to make people feel a part of something bigger, and to make them feel important. If you read into happiness then you can probably figure out ways to improve your situation by setting goals of what you want to get done.

I can't get a job for the sake of other people. This is established. As for being happy, I'm considering of trying new things, I'm starting small first: 1. Eating Lobster claws and learning to cook more and 2. http://www.atwaterlibrary.ca/events/lunchtime-lecture-series This coming Thursday is a nice music piece. I love music and instruments and used to be a Sax/Trumpet/Clarinet player (not anymore), but I still have a great love for Music.
