hi, i was re-watching diablo 3 teasers when i decided to blog about misplaced usage of movie and video game music. maybe i'm just wrong, i'm just throwin it out there, but these trailers are fucking obnoxious. watch the redundancy of dialog and music:

I think it would be better to compare the old D1 and D2 music to D3 (which I believe were made with mostly guitar and few other instruments rather than an entire orchestra like D3.) I'm a little disappointed with the new D3 music but I also think it's just nostalgia hitting me because the old musicians for the old d1 and d2 aren't with blizzard anymore.

I don't think its the orchestra that is necessarily worse - I think it is the different composer that is worse :[

But a TON of it is nostalgia.

Hmm... Orchestrated music isn't what comes to mind when I think of Warcraft 2...

Anyway, I don't mind so much that that particular genre is so prevalent in Blizzard games, as long as they do it well. Rose-tinted glasses don't fit me well, even when it comes to the classic Blizzard games.

Well I don't really dislike the music or find it annoying/obnoxious at all, I don't think it's very good relative to how awesome D1 & D2 were/are.
