Earlier today i got an SMS from this number: +905323256591, which is for my mother since it mentions her name telling "please give me your e-mail so i can contact you".
Where can that number be from? It doesn't have a country prefix, it's not a romanian number (while the message is in romanian, and written good).
I have my number since 2003, that's when i got it from my mom, she used to have it before. If i search for my number on google i found it on this website: http://www.romaniaphone.com/ which is a website which contains phone numbers and anyone can claim it or give the number a review (writing who this number belongs to). So at that number someone (i wonder who did this) posted that it belongs to my mom.
How can i find out where that number is from? Who's the number? I'm very tempted to sms my e-mail back, i'm curious what this is about. Can it be some kind of scam? Can it be a number which would charge me a huge amount if i sms to it? That's the only thing that's holding me back.
And not least, why the fuck is my phone on the web with my mom's name next to it. Do i have any kind of legal rights to tell the site owners to delete that information?

Have you tried calling the number?
Trying asking your mother about it.
Have you ever had enemies that would harm your family?

Don't ever callback on suspicious / weird numbers. It could be a donation number fishing and that means a pay day for someone if you get interested,

I wouldn't send an SMS back, since the call originated from Turkey, and who knows how much you'll get charged.
90 is for Turkey, the 532 is the area code - in this case Turkcell, a mobile operator, leaving you with 3256591 as a phone number.

Don't call back or send sms from your phone.
But if you dig and find enough evidence that it's a real number, you can look for some turkish website that sends free sms, and answer using it

This is how telemarketer's jobs are being replaced now a days. I get a bunch of these messages every month. Usually, it's some debt places offering me money at a really high rate. If you answer back, you'll probably get charged by them, which is part of the scam. After that, they'll have your email which they will sell. Just ignore it.

don't send sms there, it could very well cost 100 euro.
|
Maybe it's long-forgotten contact from your mother. Maybe somekind of CIA FBI Romanian counterterrorism espionage shit.
Or maybe it's just a scam, you choose^^

Get a prepaid card for your cellphone and text to them, asking for more info or them calling you etc.

So it's from Turkey. Hmm, she recommended as someone who worked at Acibadem, which it seems it's a healtcare center, a hospital, located in Turkey. However, i doubt my mom has ever had anything to do with that center, although she visited Turkey a couple of times.
Yeah, it's better if i don't send a sms or call back, it could be some shit that applies a big charge.
But on the event that this is truly someone who knew my mom, even with very small chances, if i could find a free sms website that i could use to send a sms there i'd use it.
Do you guys know of any turkish website like that? (or international if it allows me to send an sms to turkey).
If this is some "special" number which could put a big charge on my bill, how did it manage to call sms me from it? Aren't like these numbers only "receive-only"?
Is it possible to find out more about this number? Like checking if it's a personal number, an institution etc. Maybe that way i could figure if it could cost me some extra for a sms.
And if it's a scam, it must be done by some romanian living in Turkey, the message is quite well written in romanian.
Also regarding the second problem, is there anything i/you/we can do if we don't want any info about our personal phone being up on public websites?
Hey Exalted, been a couple of years since we last spoke .
