"I remember the smell of hopelessness and blind despair along with flashes and voices, but it didn't start out like that .. I wasn't alone at first."
Because it was such a long-ass dream I don't know if I even witnesses how the infection started but it was night in a giant apartment-complex with shitloads of people who were divided in groups. My group was fast and decisive when it came to jumping out windows and breaking down doors but as the numbers of the undead grew they started popping up all around. We would loose people fast and I felt the dilemma of whether I should care about the rest that still made up the team; Instinct was stabbing me to let go of sanity with the argument that I would be faster, slicker to find a way out. That's when we found a big hall that looked safe to rest; you know that bright-lit type of long room, with invitingly shiny wooden floor .. I knew my zombiestories enough to realize this was a grave and told them I would scout ahead and come back for them once I see an exit. This is where I still remember it like I just ditched the place.
The complex was a scrambled version of my high school, it had a round corridor instead of a rectangular one leading to almost all rooms. I found myself dodging small numbers of zombies as they came out of the rooms to that corridor and checking the other doors. I recognized some of the faces from before when they were still human, and noticed that they didn't pursue me .. I kind of felt like one of them for a second. Finally I got through a vent to a sterile looking obscure faintly blue-lit lab, which was sealed off with a giant steel door from the rest of the complex. I saw two light-switches next to the door. I turned on one of them, the room filled with bright white light and there was a big rectangular window with what looked like carbon fiber glass, as big as an Imax cinema screen. I couldn't see anything through it but smoky gray blackness. I turned on the second switch and as I turned around to face that window again I saw hundreds, even thousands of them all pushing and beating the glass with their fists. Some among them had long pointy ears and some looked exactly like the Ferengi
I was out of my mind from fear followed by instant reflexes when I noticed that the switch also triggered two doors. The zombies were darting out and so was I - through the second door and came to a gigantic football field where I noticed other survivors running for their life. Up ahead we could see a truck with two guys loading it up with crates, they insisted that they didn't have room for any of us .. too late anyway, the lead on the zombies was just 10 seconds so I started shouting .. no use guys, if they don't want to take us it's pointless. The last thing I remember I detached from those people and kept running in the woods when I saw a treehouse. It wasn't very high up but that's where I laid down to rest and started waking up.
