Trying to help out a buddy that's trying to pick up Terran so he can play random at Master's level. He's already kicking my ass.
I do ok vs him on most maps, but on maps like Shakuras where he can wall in his nat and FE, his 2-base econ just annihilates mine, even on 3 base.
Even getting a reasonably quick (not super quick) 3rd and just powering like nothing but drones until around 8:30, I was only ahead by about 10 drones, and that was only enough to about EQUALIZE the economies, given mules...which still put my behind by about 30 food.
Predictably, he just played some tank/marine micro by the choke(s) near the nat 3rd and killed all my lings/bling while taking nearly 0 losses.
So, now he's ahead like 50 food, drops my nat, kills all the drones there and pushes my 3rd. I try to defend again, lose my whole army with him taking no losses, again...
I gg frustratedly.
How do you deal with Terran on maps like Shakuras??

I watched the first 20 minutes of game 1 (42 minute game wtf), and you definitely weren't powering nothing but drones. You kinda half-assed a 2 base ling/baneling bust, which did about its value in damage, but wasn't a good tradeoff for you. You need to either put up a minimal defense and drone harder or commit to the 2 base attack.

Was mainly talking about Game 2. Game 1 was different. In hindsight, I'll remove the Game 1 link to avoid confusion. Sorry about that.

1. Don't take that base as your third, take the other nat or main. It's safer.
2. When you engaged him, you shouldn't have chased the marines off creep and then into tank fire. They were wasted.
3. Eventually you're going to need to make something other than ling/baneling. You had a few roaches and a spire but didn't do anything with it? Also no upgrades.
4. Your saturation at your natural was pretty bad even before the drop.
You were already behind in supply when the engagement happened and when you chased the marines off creep it put you way behind. The game was unwinnable except for maybe a clutch baneling or 100% fungal hits if you had made infestors.

1. Yeah, you're right about the third. That one seems damn hard to defend. 2. Just wondering how far onto creep I need to get him to keep him from being able to fully retreat. :S 3. Yeah, I just didn't have enough time to get any sort of tech/upgrades to pay off. The aggression was killing me. Maybe that's me overreacting, or maybe it was just too far gone by then. 4. Yeah, I did notice that on the replay, though, overall in terms of econ, I had more workers and more bases, so the main issue THERE was drone spread, I think? Or am I wrong?

2. Don't worry about killing him just now. If he retreats, he retreats. Continue to macro, get your muta up and harass or get your infestor up and max before he can and attack :D
3. One of the main things I've been learning is to trust that I can hold and make muta even if they won't be out in time for the first poke. If you had let him retreat you would have had a way bigger army than he did.
Take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm gold as well :D
