Got it figured out. Youtube has a 15 min limit on videos uploaded by users without a history (like me). So obviously, my 16:34-30+ min videos don't cut the mustard. Thats okay, just means I'll have to cast a lot more 10 min games. Who wants to listen to me for more then 10 min anyway?

A huge thanks to Ipp who got me started on using vDub. At least I'm not trying to upload 60 gig video files.

At this point, I'm waiting for my studio to free up (its currently inhabited by my in-laws and will be until Sunday) and doing some more research on what it'll take to become the best caster to ever struggle for things to say in the early game.

On that note, I firmly believe in learning from the best. So who do you guys think I should study? What is it you like about them?

Also, where are your favorite places to get replays? I need to get a huge stack ready so that I can start cranking them out.

I'm also hoping to start streaming the replays I am practicing casting. But that will come later.

My advice - Do your own thing. If you study from someone it is most likely going to be Day9 or Tastosis; which many people already watch so they will know you are just regurgitating stolen crap and on top of that you probably don't have the game knowledge or wits to keep going on about what you said early game.

As for replays, it depends on what you want to cast. For example if I wanted to get replays from anyone in root gaming I would just go to: Root Gaming. If I was just looking for random replays I would probably head over to Game Replays. There are a bunch of sites I had looked at back in beta, I just stopped replay casting and Star2 runs tournaments so I know they are still active.

Also MLG released majority of their replays here

For sure. I'm not interested in coping someone's style. Especially since, as you say, I have little of the
knowledge that is required to keep up dialog as well as they do. I more asking about professionalism, good habits, clarity of word and thought, transition technique, etc...

Maybe a better question would be, who has bad habits that I can learn from?

I'll check out those sites. The MLG stuff would be fun to cast. Also, anyone know if there are legal restrictions on casting and re-releasing replays?

If it is public, just don't charge for it and you are fine. If it is from a tournament, MLG, etc; be nice and give them a shout out. Do some commentary first then post it and let people give you criticism. It's like saying: I keep losing TvZ give me some help and not posting any replays, we don't know your innate strengths and weakness's therefore we can't really give you advice.

Also, while this section is "Blogs" -- Please use a better title. Last day could of been "Help creating VODs" and today "Help getting into casting" or something along those lines. The title is useful for two reasons:
--It lets people know what it is about so they don't have to read the post only to find out if they even cared in the first place.
-- It makes the page findable using the "Search" function, so if people have similar issues they can find this thread where a solution has been found -- killing duplicate posts.

^^ Completely agreed on the more descriptive blog names. I generally skip ones that are intentionally vague like this since I have no idea what it's supposed to be about.

Thank you for that advice, it could save me from a lot of frustration as I continue to write here.

I will be clearer with my titles in the future.

Would there be a better section of the forum for me to post about what I'm doing? Or is continuing a blog my best course of action?
